I have been working at Xperi full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Regardless of the business vertical, the nature of an ingredient technology is that you get to work with a lot of other companies. Global business units and offices all over the world sometimes requires extra patience but also allows for a broader world view.

    Cons

Stock price concern dominates employee conversations, which seems pointless and unclear why this is such a big topic. The business moves fast as Xperi reacts to and with customers creating built in tension when timelines are slashed.

    Advice to Management

Continue openly discussing future plans. Spend time rotating employees in other offices to foster stronger bonds globally, and rally entire company around closing sales targets.

    I worked at Xperi

    Pros

    1) in some ways there is less bureaucracy than you would expect in a firm of this size

    Cons

    1) The imaging side of the Company runs on the simple principle of keeping the cost structure low. Their growth is entirely in Romania where they can get 3 engineers for the price of 1 in Silicon Valley . As a result, there is no career growth in their US offices unless you can help with patent trolling (their mainstay) 2) Company is running low of revenues - look at their stock price slide in the last 12 months.... Revenues are also decelerating since the most companies in the mobile imaging ecosystem (one of their main markets) are getting vertically integrated. There is no differentiation that this company can provide. 3) Management is clueless on technology. They want quick results without the need to invest for growth. Management is a bunch of fat cats who travel business class even when the company goes through tough times... 4) Management does not listen enough to their employees. All decisions get made at the highest levels without sufficient due diligence. 5) Very poorly run company with limited future. 6) There seems to be little employee enthusiasm. On any given morning in their silicon valley office, there will be less than 10% of the offices occupied. Most people are traveling, on holiday, or 'working from home'. Seems like a cemetery... 7) Their mission statements about focusing on the customer is just words. The way they treat their customers is too shocking to believe. They place very little value on their commitments.

    Advice to Management

Not much. Unlikely they will listen. They are too busy saving their backs at the moment.

I have been working at Xperi full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Smart, committed teammates Very profitable company with diverse set of branded technology solutions Above average benefits and a culture that rewards team results

    Cons

No significant cons really. Same frustrations as someone would experience at any tech company of Xperi’s size. Company going through an integration from big merger so culture and product integration are works in progress.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Excited about the future for Xperi!

I have been working at Xperi full-time

    Pros

XPERI has attracted some great engineering and development talent. The atmosphere is very collegial and supportive. Good benefits and perks. Leaders are adept at assessing the big picture. All levels are encouraged to be engaged leaders.

    Cons

The company is the result of several mergers and is still in the integration stage. The corporate structure is somewhat flat, which can limit career opportunities.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Xperi full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Interesting projects if you're passionate about Computer Vision / Machine Learning.

    Cons

    - Very shortsighted management - Hostile environment where your work is not valued and politics is prioritised over good work, ideas and facts. - Non-existent local HR

    Advice to Management

Advice to upper management: - Hire new local management from outside in order to bring organisational culture change (training the current ones won't suffice) rather than continuing to promote internally mediocre engineers with zero outside experience/perspective (most of the current managers have never worked elsewhere and have ZERO outside perspective). - Hire dedicated local HR department to help promoting a... better organisational culture Advice to others: - If you're a mediocre yes person who wants to stay on good salary doing poor work, go for this company. - If you're looking to solve challenging problems and be valued for it without having to deal with hostile politics, look elsewhere and don't waste your time with this company.
