I worked at Xtreme Power Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very cool technology (when it works). Lots of smart people. Cool 'green energy' field, pleasant, very "PC" work environment where people are generally nice to each other.

    Cons

Where do I start? Arrogant leadership, poor product quality, incomplete strategy, three major fires, terrible sales, weak business case, a cash burning machine, and a prima donna team of engineers (and CEO) who's stuff doesn't stink & have no sense of delivery to commitments. No real leadership pretty much at every level in all areas - just a bunch of "nice guys" with no spine. The only thing worse was the previous CEO who was an expert in everything (just ask him) and the former CTO who build a technical house of cards. What a joke.

    Advice to Management

    Cut your losses & bail.

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Xtreme Power Solutions as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Engineering team is very competent and effective at getting projects done
    - People are very nice and easy to work with
    - As an intern, people took the time to help me learn different aspects of the job

    Cons

Due to not landing many big projects recently, money is tight and some times it is hard to get funding for testing instruments and get prototypes built. Goals of the company from the business side are not communicated well to the engineering team.

    Pros

Smart people know the market. Definitely the Sales team knows more than just the product but how the customer can make money or not with different applications.

    Cons

Engineering disconnected from Operations and Marketing. Engineering runs its own show without cohesion to Marketing.

    Advice to Management

Take control of the engineering hydra, stronger management in there to control all those cats.
