    I worked at YMCA part-time

    Pros

The YMCA center itself is great for youth programming and they have their own busses.

    Cons

None of the departments communicate with eachother. Important information travels as efficient as children playing the telephone game. Very disorganized which is unfortunate for the children.

    Advice to Management

Executive Directors should actually be friendly and make themselves known by engaging. Management needs to break up the Boys club and bring in employees that resememble the demographics of the neighborhood they are serving would have an impact on the relationships built with the children.

    I worked at YMCA part-time

    Pros

Good coworkers with an "all in this together" approach.

    Cons

    *Understaffed
*Children with clear behavioral issues allowed to remain in program, making it harder for the other children and the staff
*Management over branch/kids camp have no idea what it takes to work with kids all day, yet they come in to observe and act snooty, like they could do better

    Advice to Management

Children with documented behavioral issues (especially when they attack other kids) need to be removed from the program, they cause problems for other children and the counselors have to spend all their time trying to handle a couple of the bad apples instead of trying to make a fun, structured program for all the kids. Don't send branch higher ups who've never worked with kids as a full time job a day in their life to observe and try to make the camp leaders and counselors feel inadequate because they're overwhelmed.
