    I worked at YMCA part-time

    Pros

I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I was able to work around my school schedule. The aquatics director was extremely responsive to questions and/or concerns.

    Cons

At times communication was lacking between the class registration software and the instructors. There were a few instances that I was booked for a private lesson, but was not notified before hand and a few other times patrons were allowed by membership to schedule a private class when I was already booked for a group lesson or another private (however rescheduling with them was always a breeze).

    Pros

Great ability to move up within the organization

    Cons

Limited budgets don't allow for fast growth sometimes

    Advice to Management

Trust and communication with mindful thinking toward change is always better tried than only discussed.

I worked at YMCA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The small staff is welcoming of both members and new staff.
The members are friendly, motivated, and often inspirational.
It's not just a gym, everyone truly cares about one another and it creates a wonderful atmosphere.
Employees get a free individual membership.
Management bends over backwards to make the schedule work for all employees.
Once you work for the YMCA, you get to know people and it's excellent networking within the organization as a whole.

    Cons

Management turns over a fair amount, but is always knowledgeable and hardworking, and that can present itself as an opportunity for people looking to move up in the ranks.
Every once in a while there are disgruntled members
When it's quiet, the front desk/wellness positions can get a bit boring
