I worked at YRC Worldwide full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The best thing about working there was the genuinely good people that worked there.

    Cons

One of the drawbacks to working here was trying to be competitive with pricing.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the people that are out there talking to your customers on a daily basis. Let them know they are important, without your driver's; local or linehaul, freight wouldn't move. Without customer service, many problems would be unresolved. Quit taking your local customer service and billing people away; customers prefer having someone local that they can talk to, or walk in the office and look face to face. It's more personal than talking to someone you don't know, or talking to a different person every time you call. Plus, it hurts the people who are left without jobs.

I have been working at YRC Worldwide full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, great free Union benefits, teamsters union so lots of job security, very easy work for the city drivers, last strong Union job left in trucking!which is great for us drivers

    Cons

May take a long time to get a route, lots of old senior drivers complaining that they are old

    Advice to Management

Modernize the operation to similar in practices as other competitors....figure out a way to get rid of older, disenfranchised senior teamsters that complain about the job, they don't realize how good they have it here

I have been working at YRC Worldwide as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Management has the experiance and the added wealth of the union to pull competant labor from.A pay scale the actually allows you to pay bills and support a family.

    Cons

Shortsightedness or lack of vision of what YRC could be .We are all human, mistakes were made some worse than others .we are all to blame for them .

    Advice to Management

We need updating from one end to the other, painting the walls is not keeping up with technology.
Everyone needs to be reminded that we are not too big too fail.I have come from a OTR company and i have seen far worse "very poor management that literally craps on you " but would make up the difference by stealing from the employees ,those companys have a VERY high turn over for a reason. We have a company that has far reaching capabilities and the ability to service our customers that our competition can not compete with.Company pride is low, again this is ignorance that we only look at ourselves and inwards and not at others and outwards which would remind us that we still have the best envirement for growth and profit.
The only thing we need to fear is ourselves.

    Pros

Very good pay & benefits. Paid for ANY work done.
Lot of new equipment. Well maintained older equipment.
    Excellent work environment.

    Cons

Many yard & dock employees take advantage of Teamster representation.
Not every employee doing a fair's day work for the fair's day pay they get. This hurts everyone!

    Advice to Management

Better supervision of employees not always doing their job.
