I have been working at YRC Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid healthcare, paid holidays, vacation, sick, and personal days. Free CDL training and some union protection from the Teamsters.

    Cons

NOBODY at this company cares anymore. Freight is thrown into leaky trailers, for a driver praying to make it to the next location in a million mile truck. Even the Teamsters have given up on the company, allowing for 15% to be taken out of your pay and only 25% paid into pension.

    Advice to Management

Shape up or close it down. Customers deserve better.

I have been working at YRC Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

low stress, fair pay, good benefits, Union protection in terms of everyone gets treated the same which eliminates the good-ol-boy world that i came from in the semiconductor industry.

    Cons

the biggest problem that i can see after only being their two years is the Union is more in-bed with management than the employees. the union doesn't seem to have any leadership in James P. Hoffa and it's quite evident that he only has is job because of name recognition. the Union recently held elections and there was no information readily available discerning the differences between the two candidates leading i believe less than 20% of tens of thousands to vote.

    Advice to Management

get rid of the Senior management that obviously has no idea on how to run a company, and quite posting signs claiming to be taking big steps towards improvement but in reality not one noticeable change/action has been implemented. Signs and slogans will not fix anything.

I worked at YRC Worldwide full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The best thing about working there was the genuinely good people that worked there.

    Cons

One of the drawbacks to working here was trying to be competitive with pricing.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the people that are out there talking to your customers on a daily basis. Let them know they are important, without your driver's; local or linehaul, freight wouldn't move. Without customer service, many problems would be unresolved. Quit taking your local customer service and billing people away; customers prefer having someone local that they can talk to, or walk in the office and look face to face. It's more personal than talking to someone you don't know, or talking to a different person every time you call. Plus, it hurts the people who are left without jobs.

I worked at YRC Worldwide full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Management works hard to please clients. Services offered, ability to offer clients resolutions to needs. Compensation package. The ability to communicate with Leadership, without multiple layers. Action to resolve any issues is number 1 priority for the company.

    Cons

Operational changes, reverting business, to other divisions of the corporation, resulting in clients lost, and employee positions eliminated. Difficulty of new operational changes, being implemented.

    Advice to Management

Continue to strive for success of the company. Management does a good job at handling changes. Try to retain employees, instead of such turnover in the field. Drivers are the best of the best
