I have been working at YTI Career Institute full-time

    Pros

Most of my colleagues are amazing and resourceful. They are have been willing to take on increasingly more responsibility gracefully and are an encouragement to fellow employees and students. Love the people I work with.

    Cons

YTI was a great company to work for when I began working for them. We were purchased and put under new management several years ago, and things have gone downhill fast. Raises have been non-existent. When employees are let go (there have been many) - they are not replaced, and job responsibilities are loaded on those of us left; without regard to skill/training. It seems that the new management cares only for a monetary bottom line, not for employees or students. I still believe for the most part that our students receive a quality education, however, I'm not sure how long this will last as staff members continue to be let go or are looking to leave on their own.

    Advice to Management

Management...really the board who oversees the management...the current regime will run this place into the ground which would be so sad. So many are spread so thin that we will inevitably fall into compliance violation as things are missed. Get to know your people, find out where the strengths lie. Bring back a 401K match. Allow sick time to build up. Begin to show employees that they are appreciated and valued - not just taken advantage of.

I worked at YTI Career Institute full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None - they treat their staff poorly and just let go 12 in admissions, administration, and staff and put a bunch of others on furlow. Porter and Chester owns YTI and they are broke, poorly managed and greedy

    Cons

See above because it says it all

    Advice to Management

Close the place because if you treat students like you treat your staff you won't have anyone left to pay the bills

I worked at YTI Career Institute full-time

    Pros

The good thing about YTI was that my most of my co-workers were enjoyable and a few students appreciate the good instructors.

    Cons

Porter Chester Institute bought YTI and flushed it down the toilet. The pay is low, work schedules for instructors change every 12 weeks, no 401K match, louse medical benefits, the students can lie on surveys and senior management believes them. Also, they demand that you practically live there. They also ration paper and the quality of education has hit the bottom rung of the ladder. There are a lot of lazy instructors, so when the good instructors teach and enforce the rules put in place, the students think they are "too hard" or "mean".

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified people to work in senior management. YTI Altoona is like a clique. Also, listen to your instructors and believe them over the student. Believe it or not, students lie. Also, the same standards should apply to everyone. When an instructor is not showing up for work, why should it take a year to fire them? Try treating your instructors who actually care better.

I worked at YTI Career Institute full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Somewhat of an academic environment
-Opportunity to see the good, bad, and ugly of management

    Cons

-Unprofessional work environment; disrespectful students and colleagues
-Poor compensation and benefits. I worked hard for my doctorate and would like to receive commensurate compensation
-Universal curricula and we only had to teach students what they need to know and learn only for the test

    Advice to Management

Live out your values and stop establishing double-standards. This isn't high school anymore; this is the real world. Treat it as such.

For profit school with greedy upper management. Only cares about making money and not focused on the students or employees.

I worked at YTI Career Institute full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

YTI has nothing positive going on...when PCI bought YTI - they buried it.

    Cons

YTI fires at will. Those that remain after a firing round are not allowed to socialize with ex employees without repercussions.
You will lose any accrued sick time and there is no severance. just good bye, good luck.
YTI used to be a good school academically, today I do not recommend students attending.
Work for YTI at your own risk.

    Advice to Management

    PCI ruined YTI.

    Pros

The students and people of YTI Career Institute made working there a pleasure.

    Cons

There appears to be a general lack of support and directionality from leadership at a corporate level.
