I worked at Yahoo as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

No matter what the world outside perceives:
    1) Brilliant place to learn and work on projects of your choice

    2) Great opportunity to make an impact

    3) Awesome freedom to collaborate with other teams

    4) After becoming Oath, things will only get better from here.

    5) Competitive intern salaries, awesome free food and intern events.

    Cons

    1) The work and experience is a function of the team entirely.

    2) Can have a bad experience with some old stragglers who have no idea what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

The recruiting is all over the place. Please come up with a streamlined process to hire good people. The presence in career fairs is kind of haphazard.

I have been working at Yahoo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I like working with smart people and there are a lot who work here. The benefits are quite good here compared to others that I've been employed by - especially the free food. Some very good managers that give you freedom to be creative.

    Cons

There are many different levels of commitment in different teams and a lot of entitlement within the culture. Overall, I think it felt better when we were as independent company and not under Oath. Less pride in the brand now than before the merger.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes you should ask the opinion of the people who are actually performing the work before setting deadlines - walk before you run.

I worked at Yahoo as an intern

    Pros

Biweekly events even in Champaign, a small town with really small resources. It makes interns feel home. And people there are awesome.

    Cons

Small town and thus less development opportunity?
