I have been working at Yahoo (More than a year)

    Pros

Yahoo employ some of the best people in the industry. You will learn a lot from your colleagues and co-workers in your team and others.
When Yahoo believe in a project, they will put the appropriate resources behind it.
Excellent package from low-high level. Free breakfast, lunch and dinner (dinner at HQ only).

    Cons

Very high attrition. Lack of direction behind one particular product. Nobody will ever understand exactly what your company does when you say you work at Yahoo.

    Advice to Management

Alter the QPR process. It's damaging for team morale, especially when managers are forced to down-rate their reports.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Yahoo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is very premium so all the staff have access to the latest technology to work, including great laptops and smartphones. They are also very transparent with global live streaming of the CEO's updates every week and the benefits are great (including free breakfast and free lunch every day)

    Cons

There is no international strategy whatsover, so outside the US is a big mess, with people being hired and fired all the time. You can be there for 15 years or 3 months and you can be fired just like that, there is no security. The QPR process is also extremely though and unfair and if you get too bad results in one year you are automatically fired. The communication outside the US is extremely bad.

    Advice to Management

International matters and employees are not only numbers

    I worked at Yahoo full-time

    Pros

    - Pay, bonus and share scheme were all very competitive
    - Good perks - excellent free canteen, holiday purchase, company phones etc
    - Good travel opportunities
    - In a large office of >250 people, an impressive lack of unpleasant people - generally a friendly place to work

    Cons

    - There is an atmosphere of slow decline - despite efforts to come up with new products and offering, numbers aren't significantly improving and this does reflect on the mood
    - Relatively frequent redundancies
    - It feels like markets outside of the US are always an afterthought, and generally have to wait in order to get new products and offerings
    - Strategy seems to change focus often
