There is no clear leadership in senior management. The company has been through a few rounds of layoff and reorganization.

poor salary package and no effort from the team managers or HR to make an effort to give a proper hike to the employees. A layoff process twice a year is high probability

- Paid well to start.... - Big Brand Name looks good on resume - Lots of travel, and big company resources - Nice company perks (until they're taken away) - Didn't meet anyone who wasn't a nice person. -Culture was 100% fantastic!

- The New QPR rating systems was implemented to cut the workforce in half without calling it a mass layoff. - Teams that need additional headcount could not fill positions based on HR regulations. Then the position was just cut. - Your Job security is based on the VP(s) ability to fight/secure revenue for their teams. - Talented people are penalized for working with other talented people due the metrics of the QPR system.

cool people, interesting scaling problems, Fun Parties. Still have many friends from there to this day. Its good for a big company.

Constant treat of layoff. Low pay, benefits were ok. Re-org, re-org, re-org. Too many bosses, not enough workers. Older technology.

There are smart people that work there. The free shwag is somtimes nifty and fun. Octoberfest. Some interesting products and tools to work with.

4 layoffs in 4 years (and more to come). $30ish stock options that were never worth it. Despite layoffs there are incompetent teams (team of 10 working for 2 years did what 1 competent person could do in 6 months (no exaggeration there)). Apparently you ant fire someone outside of a layoff unless you have a years with of screw ups as evidence. Poor decisions by upper management and execs. More leaks than a boat made of Swiss cheese. Constantly reinventing the wheel except that the wheel they always make is square and they never learn. Several teams working to reinvent the same wheel at the same time and don't communicate.

Too much of org changes: In last one year there have been two layoff rounds. While it almost halved tthe management levels, it was also very stressful on the employees. It has hurt the employee morale

Working on petabytes of data. Free coffee Good company recognition outside of North America. By and large, friendly staff and non competitive culture. (read collaborative).

Leaks. Non stop leaks. You find out more about the company from AllthingsD then you do from your management. The word 'Yahoo' is used as the antonym of 'Google' in North America. Large number of 'obstructionist' long time Y! employees. These are the ones that have mastered the art of doing as little as possible while looking busy. Most are waiting for that all elusive layoff package or for their green card to be approved. More red tape then your local government. Their idea of automation is to manually push twice a week. Wide and i mean wide technology stack. 1 department can have mind numbing number of technical solutions for the same problem.
