I have been working at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

We are the voice for our communities, we take pride in offering the best services to our client and patients.

    Cons

One con is work/life balance, when you are dedicated to work you often take it home (both intentionally and unintentionally). Another con is having employees who do not embrace our Mission, Vision and Values.

    Advice to Management

I appreciate the opportunities and education that you give to our communities and to the staff throughout the organization.

May 26, 2017 – Sr. Manager of Communications

We know the struggle all too well of work/life balance when we so deeply care about the work we do. While some employees may be part of the organization without the full buy-in of the mission, our... More

I have been working at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Our values TRUST, INTEGRITY, TRANSPARENCY, PARTNERSHIP, JUST TREATMENT, JOY, and COURAGE. The people who work for YVFWC try their best to apply the organization values into their daily work life.
There is an atmosphere of caring for each other and the people that we serve.
We recognize when someone has done a 'job well done'. We encourage growth and improvement by seeing the positive in each individual.
I am blessed to be a part of Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.

    Cons

As with all organizations there are always ways to improve. I stated in the pros that we try our best to apply YVFWC values to our daily work life. What I see and have experienced is we need to concentrate more on transparency.

    Advice to Management

The key to better transparency is communication within certain departments, then between departments within the organization, and then externally. We need to voice our opinions, needs, and options more.

I have been working at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Mission driven, competitive compensation, frequent soft skills training for supervisors offered, constant desire to grow and evolve to meet the needs of patients

    Cons

YVFWC is growing rapidly. You have to be able to adapt to new changes or you wont be happy.

    Advice to Management

Look to fill open positions using internal staff. We have a lot of talent that should be given a chance to fill positions

I have been working at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic full-time

    Pros

    Community outreach and integrated providers

    Cons

    Poor and inexperienced management.
Mass exodus of providers and medical assistants due to this poor management.
    Lots of drama.
Favorites of management can do anything they want.

    Advice to Management

Stop picking favorites and discriminating. I've seen multiple people do the same thing but only the people management doesn't like get away with it.

I worked at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get to work with great staff! The IT staff are all hard working very smart people that do everything they can to make things right.

    Cons

You have to work with management that are more than willing to lie to your face, take credit for everything, and blame the employees for everything.

The IT management do not seem to understand the systems that are in place or what it takes to run them. I am not sure any of of the IT management has ever really worked in a technical IT role prior to being awarded their management position. This starts at the supervisor level and goes all the way up. So far, none of the good supervisors have stayed more than a couple years due to the incompetence of the management.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at the IT management. They lie to the employees and I am guessing to upper management based on the decisions being made.

I worked at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (More than a year)

    Pros

You can find great pride in the work you do assisting the community at large

    Cons

The micromanagement and mismanagement of the organization is astounding. Growth is the only focus while the time and infrastructure required to make that growth efficient and effective is regularly ignored causing immense dissatisfaction.

    Advice to Management

If you want to be a major organization you need to change your business culture and function as a large corporation. Have policies and procedures in place the everyone actually uses instead of constantly trying to work the system to get what you want. Staff your departments with qualified people, not just whomever you can recruit to get someone in the seat. When issues arise, deal with them instead of sweeping them under the rug and missing an improvement and employee satisfaction opportunity altogether. The culture needs to change there. It's a very old school mentality where very little is progressive and the providers and leadership get whatever they want regardless of the impact to the rest of the organization. Those decisions are irresponsible and not what would provide the greatest services to the community or make the organization the most profitable.

I have been working at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic full-time

    Pros

The salary is competitive for the location.

    Cons

Significant micromanagement issues, inefficient workflow in nearly every department, and an absolutely critical communication challenge both within a single department as well as interdepartmentally.

    Advice to Management

Capitalize on your current investments and employees before growing further. Improve efficiencies, communication, and support your employees; growth will come naturally. There's a reason that only three to four people in a department of 45 have lasted more than four to five years.
