I worked at Yale New Haven Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large Magnet Hospital staff nurse council as well as nursing cluster councils.

    Cons

Take it or leave it attitude throughout organization - Employee paid parking in questionably monitored lots with shuttle service (new car damaged and no one saw - security said you park at own risk, really??)

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees, empower them do not allow them to feel disposable. Live the mission statement.

I have been working at Yale New Haven Hospital part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I'm a new grad, all the nurses on my floor have helped me learn the job, management is very supportive. Great nurse to patient ratio in Smilow.

    Cons

Sometimes it moves very fast, but I think that's to be expected with inpatient acute care.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up! I hope to work here for a long time.

I worked at Yale New Haven Hospital full-time

    Pros

excellent academic surgeons with exemplary department leadership

    Cons

The highest level of management are non clinicians. Very top heavy, excessive vice president and management positions, with ridiculous salaries in relation to their knowledge of quality patient care. YNHH is a big fish in a tiny pond.

    Advice to Management

    Remember why you are there.

I have been working at Yale New Haven Hospital full-time

    Pros

    Patient care is very good.
    Providers are prompt and efficient.
Staff is required to be accountable for their performance. If you're hard working and driven this is the facility for you.
    Magnet status.
You'll see everything here. Great professional experience.

    Cons

Critical care units rotate shifts. You will work Days/nights indefinitely and it varies unit to unit. I switch biweekly and it's very difficult on the body. Be prepared to ask very specific questions regarding the rotation when you interview. Hold management accountable and good luck.
