I have been working at Yale University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing connections to brilliant people, doing innovative work. Very humbling experience. I don't think i could have succeeded anywhere else..

    Cons

New Haven is insanely expensive because landlords know they have a captive student population that keeps returning to the university year after year.

    Pros

Nice job to have on the side. Supportive faculty, and important research

The job is, at times, a bit tedious. As I advance from data gathering and into data analysis, it should be more interesting

I have been working at Yale University full-time

    Pros

Yale offers tremendous opportunity for growth, provides continuing education classes, enrichment and encourages its employees to learn new skills. The benefits are excellent and pay is better than average.

    Cons

There are a lot of politics and generally it isn't what you know, it's who you know - but this happens most places

I worked at Yale University full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits - private health care, abundant time off, many fringe benefits working at one of the world's best universities.

    Cons

New Haven is fun but somewhat perilous. Working with the unions is fraught with difficulty - for every hard worker in the union there are five more who will do next to nothing. Upper management is full of micromanaging control freaks.
