    Pros

Time off is a great benefit. For those who are career minded there a endless opportunities to advance in management. Child tution benefit is wonderful as is their 403K retirement plan.

    Cons

They never close in bad weather and it makes it dangerous for those who travel from out of town and don't support the student body. Health insurance is expensive if your not in a union or using the yale health plan. Parking is also expensive and many lots are not paved. Fortunately they do have security escorts. Equity between union workers and M&P's needs to be improved. On site child care not very easy to use.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who are in the trenches.

Great benefits, great time-off package, respect

    Cons

They seem to advance people just to shut them up regardless of their ability

    Advice to Management

Promote people based on their ability

    Pros

Stimulating people, entrepreneurial envronment, open to speaking yr mind; opportunities to learn from the best, the ability to move around and gain new knowledge.

    Cons

the work keeps increasing but the pay is not commensurate. The introduction of a new pay for performance program lessens the ability of supervisors to praise and recognize hard work by introducing arbitrary numerical ratings that are linked to pay. Many front line supervisors, faculty and staff, are untrained and inept Pretty inflexible management policies.

    Advice to Management

strive to improve processes without destroying the heritage and beauty of Yale. We are not a corporation.

    Pros

Ivy League University ...excellent academic setting, distinguished teachers, world class research.
University town, vibrant student life, Harvard vs Yale games.

    Cons

Weather - Cold and Miserable, snow, crime rates are very high, astonishing in fact given the sheer number of students

    Advice to Management

Improve security around campus especially in light of recent events. Need more bus lines and most importantly dental care is needed

    Pros

Yale obviously hires a lot around the New Haven area, but if you are a student looking to make easy money on the side without cutting too much into your schoolwork and social life, I highly recommend applying to be a student manager at one of the dining halls.

    Cons

The only downside I can think of doesn't really apply to students: there's limited room for growth within the employment system at Yale, but then again why would you want there to be? You're job will be ending within in the year anyway.

    Advice to Management

Management is great--if anyone, they understand how smart the students are because they work there everyday and really appreciate what they're doing.

    Pros

You get to do homework on shift.

    Cons

    The pay should be higher.

    Advice to Management

Hire some people to help you guys out with administrative stuff. You guys seem overworked.

    Pros

It is the well know university. Easy to get the fund from the government or the companies.
Good research resources to prompt the research work

    Cons

Slightly dangerous area to work until late night.
No space to park in the day time or very expensive parking fee even if have to park in the far parking lot.

    Advice to Management

Due to the economic crisis, Yale sets the limit of the salary increase. But it is unfair because there is no boundary for the first salary line.

    Pros

It's a good work environment, my bosses are friendly and understanding. I feel very much a part of this community.

    Cons

New Haven is no New York City. The winter here is miserable; the summer is muggy and super hot. But Yale is good to its students as far as jobs go, our minimum wage is super high.

    Pros

Very prestigious university. Lots of academic resources and lots of career options after graduation. Students are treated well. A good choice and you'll never regret it.

    Cons

The town is not as safe as one would like. Never walk out alone at night. Better live in one of the several relatively safe neighborhoods.

    Advice to Management

Great job overall. Continue with what's going on and I see a great future for the university. Could not think of anything needing attention now.
