I have been working at Yavapai College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The community of Prescott Arizona and its environs are wonderful. The administration and faculty of Yavapai College are diverse, fascinating, and worldly.

    Cons

Prescott Arizona is a small city about 100 miles north of Phoenix with a spectacular year-round climate, but it sometimes lacks the amenities of a larger city.

I worked at Yavapai College part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Clarkdale campus has brand new buildings. Beautiful library. Classes in wine & possibly soon horticulture. If you can find a live professor, working with them is rewarding.

    Cons

Totally underutilized. Students on Clarkdale side have no choice but to take most of their classes 0n line & from what current students tell me there is little to no feed back. Almost everything is done in or through Prescott campus. Students & faculty are demoralized.

    Advice to Management

Bring live classes back to Clarkdale campus especially nursing program. With excellent hospit as in Verde Valley students shouldn't have to travel one to one & 1/2 hours each way to get classes.

I have been working at Yavapai College (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for 1/2 hour lessons, less so for hour lessons.

    Cons

Adjunct at a small community college, we're asked to do a lot without much compensation, but the department management has changed and is working to make it better.

    Advice to Management

Help us with recruitment. We don't get paid to travel or do recruitment at schools, which usually involves a small performance, masterclass, and printouts, and the area isn't that interested in private lessons.

I worked at Yavapai College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful people, culture, location, leadership and facilities

    Cons

Salary! Almost impossible to live in the region on the wages provided. Other non-tangible benefits help offset low wages.

I have been working at Yavapai College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Academic, friendly community environment.
    No music in the background.
    Every day is different.
Helping people who really want your help.
    Some kind, caring students.
    Great co-workers.
Everyone is there for the students.

    Cons

Some students have different expectations of what a tutor does ('You'll do my homework for me, right?').
Everyone is there for the students, because the pay is minimum wage. (That's alright with me :)
Unfortunately, this position remains part-time. I have talked with HR about getting more hours, but for now it remains 19.5 hrs maximum per week.

    Advice to Management

I've heard countless testimonies of how the Learning Center has changed students' lives and academic accomplishments, giving them the tools they need to succeed in their classes. I only wish there was a way this could be better documented. Those who take the surveys seem to be a small portion of those who benefit from the tutors at the LC.

I have been working at Yavapai College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fridays off during the summer. staff training, student focus, management plan ahead for fiscal ups and downs, staff are very nice to each other.

Sometimes things/decisions are a bit slow to change/happen.

I worked at Yavapai College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Yavapai College has great benefits. These not only included health, dental, etc., but included professional and career growth opportunities through workshops and courses offered at the main campus in Prescott.

    Cons

The downside of working at the campus was mainly the separation of the campuses. Employees often felt this separation in policies and decisions, with the smaller campuses feeling as if they did not get the perks of the main campus in Prescott or feeling as if they were the 'stepchildren' of the college.

    Advice to Management

    Work on employee relations.
