I worked at Yelp as an intern

    Pros

Yelp is a solid internship if you are interested in sales, small business, or the restaurant business.
    Culture
    Food
    Hours
    Access to Senior Management
    Office Perks
    International Brand

    Cons

The salary is weak compared to comparable sales internship programs. Interns are all more qualified than the full-time hires (with <4 months experience)

    Advice to Management

Increase base salary to remain competitive. Do no train interns alongside full-time hires. Allow interns to earn commission.

I worked at Yelp as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent culture and good pay on the engineering and product side. Generally good processes and infrastructure for driving product with data and good leadership.

    Cons

Not super flexible in terms of pushing for new initiatives unless you're already in a leadership position.

I worked at Yelp as an intern

    Pros

    - Get to attend cool events
    - Great experience
    - Looks good on resume

    Cons

    - It depends on the CM. If you have a lazy CM, you will be a slave to him or her. If you don’t, things won’t be so bad.
    - Almost act like you’re in on call nurse
    - Disorganized
    - Zero credit for work

    Advice to Management

Set limits for CM on how he or she can boss around intern

I worked at Yelp as an intern

    Pros

    - Pay is good
    - Excellent intern program with lots of events
    - Mentor was very eager to teach me about technical concepts (will vary depending on your mentor)
    - It was my first time working in web, but there was plenty of support in the form of documentation and help from co-workers to get me up to speed
    - No unreasonable expectations, I was never expected to stay late even when I was given a project with a deadline

    Cons

Pretty overbearing "tech culture," you gotta always be smiling and agreeing with everyone. Probably not an issue for most people.

I worked at Yelp as an intern

    Pros

Free food fun people great coffee

    Cons

its cold calling no matter how high you get up. To much of the salary is at risk to live comfortably in NYC.

    Advice to Management

create other jobs besides cold calling

I worked at Yelp as an intern

    Pros

Loved the team of other interns I worked with, I also loved getting paid as an intern. I also loved the type of work I did and the events I got to attend.

    Cons

I didn't learn nearly as much as I was expecting, and I was put on the hook for a lot of things that were not my fault. My boss was very hands on in the beginning and then expected us to do everything afterwards, which seemed extremely unprofessional. I never met any other Yelp employees and was never given any special projects to do to grow my skills. They also were extremely fishy about my hours, and not paying me for certain things that I did.... #illegal

    Advice to Management

Intern program would be better if taught more and not just there to do 1 job repeatedly.
