I have been working at Yokogawa full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Convenience to commute back and forth to company. Great work balance. Friendly staff. Best for graduates entering work field.

    Cons

Difficult to advance within company. Most people who advance have a good relationship with upper management. Or you have your work for the company for at least 20 years to advance.

I worked at Yokogawa full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Traveling to Japan
    Company paid dinners
    Making new friends
    Working for a Japanese company

    Cons

    IT cripples the company
HR is a total joke. They don't care about the wellbeing of their employees.
Office is absolutely brutal. Pretty much stare at the clock waiting for the day to end.
The company's 10 year plan is crippling. Locks the company into longterm plans that to keep up with the market.
Hard to expand skills while the company creeps along.

    Advice to Management

Management doesn't care to hear about how to improve the company. They don't listen or try to change.

I worked at Yokogawa full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Eveyrone at least in the Newnan office acts like Family. People are relatively calm mannered and are enjoyable to work with.
    Stability in the market.
Decent benefits. Average pay in the Newnan office.

    Cons

Sugarland employees need an Attitude adjustment. Visiting Sugarland from Newnan, its like I was visiting a completely different company. Where is this one company model? Might as well make Sugarland its own affiliate office.
YCA is plagued with what many people call the good ole boys club. Lots of long tenure employees. In some respects this speaks highly of the company. However, many of these long timers are in management. They are stuck in their ways...and I mean stuck. The new blood, you know the ones that bring new ideas to the table. Ha! Oh the manager will listen because he/she is trained to. However, best of luck getting any of those ideas to stick. If you like to just come in do your job, get a paycheck this company is for you.
Thankfully it sounds like a new COO has started to clean up shop though.
If you go for an Interview ask HR what the employee turn over rate is especially if you interview in Sugarland.
Sadly the company although stable, isn't growing at the pace other market providers are. Also the US affiliate office is still fairly small in retrospect to other US based organization with similar product lines. So your room for career growth will be hindered by the size of your department. At the time of my departure career growth opportunities were limited. Partly due to the size of the company, but also because the good ole boy club isn't to worried about that.

    Advice to Management

You've lost good talent a great deal of it in the past few years. Mainly because you didn't agree with the idea's of these young bloods. We all get it, you feel the pressure and your best reaction is to remove the individual. At least attempt to care if employee's speak up. You'd be suprised how much talented people you have suppressed by your non caring attitudes.

I have been working at Yokogawa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get to know every thing about products, make good relations with customers , and get the company name on your resume,

    Cons

None friendly work environment , HR has no smile on their faces

    Advice to Management

Keep your employees not by paying more but by making work environment livable , encourage activities , I have seen ppl leave the company just for that

I worked at Yokogawa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, competitive pay, good benefits, lots of ways to be involved with committees and company events, casual Fridays, possibility for an annual bonus.

    Cons

Supervisors have high expectations for performance but do not give enough training for employees to meet those expectations. Especially when different trainers provide contradictory training.

    Advice to Management

Consistent training is necessary for employees to perform at their best.

I have been working at Yokogawa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Yokogawa has great, reliable products. It is also a great place to begin your career and learn a lot.

    Cons

Upper management including HR is toxic, and this culture flows down and is pervasive in all management. Management is not interested in any opinions or ideas of its employees as this is generally perceived as dissent.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that the company attempt to make a major cultural shift from the top down to make the work environment and culture a more positive one.

I have only been employef here for 2 months and this is a dream company for me. I like my job, my supervisors and also my work.

    Cons

    Haven't found any cons yet.

I worked at Yokogawa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're looking to get into oil and gas it's a good place to start. They have great technology and will train you.

    Cons

It's a good entry point into oil and gas, because most who leave are determined not to return. It's a very manufacturing-minded organization that loves to monitor and micromanage. They also tend to pay executives very high and workers very low.

    Advice to Management

When you SAY your employees are the most important asset ACT like you mean it.

I worked at Yokogawa full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was only there for four months, then I had a stroke and couldn't work. Great family atmosphere while I was there. Great work culture.

    Cons

Competitors seem to think Yokogawa has a "sweatshop" reputation.

I didn't get that impression at all, but I was only there a short while.
