    YCBM has redefined "work"

    Pros

    The company is intentionally small which means everyone knows each other and can hold each other accountable for the outcomes we expect to achieve. The work doesn't feel like work. It is doing what needs to get done to service the Customer every day, with a REAL smile, and an overall joy to be a part of something so incredibly special.

    Cons

    I'd love to see more company wide virtual get togethers. This can be a challenge with us being an international group but definitely worth it!

    Pros

    Dedicated employees around the world building something great. Amazing benefits, unlimited time off, company retreats to exotic locations.

    Cons

    Hard to find cons. Small team so feature releases can take some time, but that will change with growing the team.

    Honestly hard to find major cons after over a year

    Pros

    Sounds a bit cheesy but honestly the biggest pro is the team. Very friendly people and super easy to work with across all departments. Always a great deal of respect between everyone even when disagreeing on how to go about something. Nobody is going to be bugging you day-to-day asking you to randomly do this and that and messaging you to check if you're actually working. People are trusted to be self-motivated and go about their work in whatever way is more productive to them. Public salaries internally alongside transparent and frequent finance updates. Clear salary/bonus progression system that rewards loyalty and performance inside the company. Occasional company/department wide get togethers in varying locations are a great way to bond and have fun together while still being able to get some brainstorming done over major topics. (Did I mention the amazing food??)

    Cons

    Cons in my day-to-day experience are mostly: - Some great ideas get shelved for a long time due to a simple lack of man power as everyone is often already busy tackling something else. - Even though it's a lot better since I joined over a year ago, and we are actively trying to modernize the entire code base, there's still a huge amount of legacy code left running in production with very inconsistent architectural decisions, poor documentation and lackluster testing. That naturally leads to weird bugs and makes some features a pain to develop. If what you're looking for is mainly a state-of-the-art code base to work on, we will get there eventually, but at the time of writing this review it would be a poor fit for you.

We have definitely put a huge amount of work into finding and hiring the right team to help build and scale our product and I'm glad to hear that things are working well for you. I completely take your point about the tech stack - the core product is over 10 years old. Because we are funded by customers, for a long time we only had a handful of engineers able to work on refactoring and supporting the code base. We are so happy we now have an incredible team in place who are working so well in tackling all the topics and still adding new things to what we are offering to customers all the time.     Pros

    You will learn a lot about micromanagement, legacy code, bad practices, the absolute worst architectural decisions, reinventing the square wheel, and how NOT to develop software in general. Apply for the job only if you want an immediate, long-lasting career stall.

    Cons

    Realizing you could have dodged the bullet, but instead chose to ignore all those red flags because the salary seemed pretty good at the time. It's not worth it. Not in a million years.

    Bridget here from YCBM. Whilst clearly hard for me to read, I do appreciate the feedback on your experience and certainly take it very seriously. I genuinely only have the very best wishes for those who have moved on from YCBM in the last few years. Like all SaaS companies, we've had our fair share of challenging technical decisions to tackle - I certainly wouldn't claim we've got every one of those decisions right! But what I can say is that we've always worked incredibly hard to do the right things and to learn whenever there might be a better way. This is how we've evolved as a company, got better at what we do and have the team, structure and processes in place that we're incredibly proud of today. Clearly in this case, things didn't work out and I'm very sorry for that.     Pros

    - Inspiring founders with great vision, instincts, care for the customer and the staff. They truly lead by example. - Fantastic team. Everyone cares, trusts, goes the extra mile, is friendly and humble. There are no egos to manage in the company - The customer is at the heart of everything. I've never seen any company so customer-driven - There's a lot of autonomy and trust. Everyone is focused on doing their best job - Oh and can we talk about the product? It's pretty outstanding (and it´s not just me saying it - tons of die-hard fans leaving reviews across the web!) and it's just fantastic to know that you can contribute to save people's time and allow them to be more productivity - Fully remote and with people from all over the world - Great culture - Top benefits!!!

    Cons

    Pretty much in my honeymoon phase (it has the potential to go on for years!) so it's hard to find cons.

    Pros

    UK salary, that's the only advantage.

    Cons

    - Over managing. - Micromanaging instead of focusing on improving the company. - They fired almost the entire eng team in the middle of the pandemic. - Forget about using best practices, have regular meetings to improve... - No respect for the personal/work conciliation balance, especially during the pandemic.

    Pros

    The people at YouCanBook.me are wonderful. It's a small, totally remote, and fully distributed team and that's embedded into the culture. Everyone is dedicated, insightful, and great to work with. The product itself is great and still has room for improvement and growth. It's exciting to work on such a well-established product that still has immense opportunity to grow. And there's the opportunity for personal advancement and career progression, including training and courses. There are also many other perks and benefits, one of which is summits where everyone meets up to work and spend time together.

    Cons

    Being so driven and full of ideas means we sometimes have to make hard calls about what we can realistically achieve.

    Pros

    This company isn't just 'talk' - the owners truly believe in taking care of the customers and building a good product and this resonates with the whole team. Everyone shares the same values and does their job well. Great environment, culture and benefits!

    Cons

    There's so much we still want to do but we probably need more people to get things done at a faster rate.
