I have been working at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great perks & hard working employees

    Cons

    Benefits are lousy.
Too many Chiefs & not enough Indians, who do the real work.
Chairman is an enigma and you never see him. He doesn't know the employees like his dad & doesn't interact unless it's at an offsite event & then it's all for show.
Exec office is like Ft. Knox when you need to get in.
Chairman's Exec Assistant is like a honey badger.
Too many layoffs & bad morale. Folks are overworked & underpaid.
No raises in 2018 which was disappointing & everyone worked hard!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your overpaid Execs who are making a ton of money; give the Execs the same crappy benefits that everyone else has; quit losing suppliers; hire competent people; get Oracle to work properly!

I have been working at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

*There is a lot of work to do so you are never bored.
*The people are amazing to work with!!! GREAT PEOPLE!
*You can always learn something new on a daily basis.
*Some free lunches are provided every 3 months or so.

    Cons

    * The new system is extremely slow and has been nothing but a burden and stress to all employees, suppliers, and customers.
    * The Dental and Medical benefits are awful.
    * Maybe 2 Executives/Top Managers who know how to use and navigate there way through the new Oracle system that has been implemented.
    * They are laying off people left and right and hiring unqualified people or lazy temps who do not understand or care about the work they are doing.
    * They have not laid off the correct people, favoritism is REAL in this company.

*Extreme lack of training for ALL new employees!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off employees who are the best at there jobs.
Hire people who have proper knowledge and experience in the industry.
Start caring about the people in your company that make the wheels turn and the company run.

I worked at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Centralized office/warehouse location.
    Family oriented business.

    Cons

Major changes with competitors merging and suppliers leaving has been horrible for business. Used to get 2% raises every year. 2017 was such a horrible year (except AZ) that nobody received a raise. Recently they have been terminating a lot of people.

    Advice to Management

    Merge with Breakthru.

    Advice for jobseekers:
Go to Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits or Breakthru Beverage. I worked for Southern for 7 years. I loved it. Better health benefits, better work parties, lots of wine/liquor bottles given to employees, and they promote from within.

    Pros

If you work hard and prove that you’re a reliable, team oriented, capable, problem SOLVER, rather than a dramatic, problem GIVER, then you will be treated like family.
I’ve never had any issues with management or my coworkers.

    Cons

The pay isn’t great. It isn’t the worst. The amazing people I get to work with keep me from going anywhere else.

I have been working at Young's Market Company full-time

    Pros

    - Great coworkers
    - Work in a fascinating industry
    - Can learn a lot

    Cons

    - Bad top leadership
    - Compensation is low (unless you're a exec or higher level sales)
    - Benefits are not good
    - Company culture is no longer existent
    - No work/life Balance
    - Career opportunities are very limited depending on department

    Advice to Management

Realize your mid-management and other associates are the backbone of the company. They need to be respected, their opinion taken into account and they should be compensated for their time.
