I worked at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The Wine & Spirits industry is exciting and fun

    Cons

Young's salary is disgustingly low when comparing similar job titles and other companies in the Bay Area...you do not come here for the $$
Upper management is lacking in communication, integrity, and respect of employees. Young's has reorganized numerous aspects of the company due to the loss of brands...however what is Young's doing to turn things around?
Moral is SO low in the office...people have stopped showing up and continue to work from home...and the constant threat of layoffs and re-org's is no picnic either.

    Advice to Management

Get it together....make the changes needed by hiring the right people to run this company. Stop cutting bonuses or salary increases. Make BITW fun again, and put EMPLOYEES FIRST.

Lack of work and life balance. Too many mandatory social events.

I worked at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nearly none left. Current employees are angry comparing the company they work for today to the one they worked for 5 to 10 years ago.

    Cons

No trust, no planning, no capability left. This company has lost its ability to manage its self due to a foolish ERP, poor planning and little imagination.

    Advice to Management

Get your employees things to sell, stop losing suppliers and immediately fix the ERP that is tearing your company apart.

I have been working at Young's Market Company full-time

    Pros

Middle management and below are great to work for & with. The company is going through a major ERP implementation and without the great middle management team, the implementation would not have come to fruition.

    Cons

Executive management is out of touch with their teams and seem to lack direction. They don't seem to be thinking about the company for the long term. Decisions seem to be short sighted. Employee benefits aren't great.

    Advice to Management

Executive management should value their employees especially during the ERP implementation. They should be appreciative of everyone's hard work and long hours.

I have been working at Young's Market Company full-time

    Pros

Good pay, stable industry, decent benefits, easy to work with co-workers.

    Cons

Pay is on the lower scale. Company restructures too often. Cannot speak your mind. Poor dept. to dept. communication. Promote via popularity not work ethics.

    Advice to Management

Get new people in management who actually knows how to do their jobs.

    Pros

Working in the field and developing outside sales experience

    Cons

Compensation and antiquated culture. Store managers and liquor managers will take advantage of their position of power over you - this is industry-wide, however.

    Advice to Management

Pay and incentivize your sales representatives more and your top talent won't leave for more lucrative industries in terms of compensation.

I worked at Young's Market Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None, everyone else pays better for the same positition. Also the sales commissions, which are small to being with are taxes as bonuses so you get 40% taken off the top. Or a vary high percentage. I forget the exact number.

    Cons

There was a lot of favoritism, borderline bullying, Not a friendly place to work for women. Management wouldn’t have the whole team doing the same things based on if he liked you or not. (You had more work to do if he did not like you) communication was terrible. Management was horrible. They didn’t have the accounts best interest in mind. They would take any opportunity to tell you what you did wrong or how it wasn’t good enough.

    Advice to Management

Her better managers, who actually want to assist in the growth of their employees. Not people who just want to micro manage, talk down to and make snide remarks to, or straight up rude ones such as “you will never Ieave this territory if I have anything to do with it”.
