    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Diverse customers and coworkers. Educational resources available. Customer service driven.

    Cons

Tools and tech fail often. The company just rolled out a new oracle based system that has been detrimental to the sales force and the distribution centers.

    Advice to Management

Management at the Express level is fine. It is separate from the sales division.

I worked at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great owner, very diverse environment, decent 401k plan, and a great reimbursement program

    Cons

In need of direction from top to bottom. Diversity more important than quality of employees. Morale at all time low due to mismanagement and layoffs.

    Pros

    Insurance benefits, pension and pay

    Cons

Management from the very top to the lowest level are out of touch with reality.

    Advice to Management

Hire folks who know the business. Quit going to the outside to hire managers. It doesn’t work! You have plenty of smart people with talent already employed with you.

I worked at Young's Market Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you like the spirits industry, this is an option. But then again, for people who wanted a car back in the day, a Yugo was an option.
There is nothing classy about this outfit. Case throwers who have been in the industry and gave up on pursuing something better, or bettering themselves. Going into it, the bonus is that you know what you're getting into. Which isn't much.

    Cons

Meetings- the outfit I worked with had no idea how to have them and be efficient. The people I worked with had no class, could not put together a PowerPoint, or understand basic business principles.
The industry can be shady. But add to it some shady people and you've got a real cocktail. HR is a joke, too.

    Advice to Management

I think a "if it ain't broke" mentality will hinder any attempt at running a company that's not rife with bozos. The guys at the top are wealthy. So no advice will be well-received.

Great opportunity as a first job to learn new skills and grow sales understanding.

    Cons

The opportunity for growth was limited and it is hard to determine when the next step will present itself.

    Advice to Management

Provide growth opportunities once an employee has attained certain goals.
