I have been working at Youngstown State University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Early registration, paid to study when there's no work to do, network and build relationships with faculty, extremely flexible schedule.

    Cons

Low wages (understandably), an obvious frustration of full-time staff and faculty with administrators.

    Advice to Management

Try actually listening to the problems your full-time staff and faculty voice, and respond to them. Negotiate with your employees without making ludicrous claims and propositions. Treat your employees like their work is important because it is.

I worked at Youngstown State University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with the students here as an adjunct faculty member. My particular department worked tirelessly to foster important educational values to the students it serves through departmental services and course offerings.

    Cons

The pay, while decent for the Youngstown area, could use some improvement. From my understanding, it has been many many years since the adjunct faculty have seen a raise- upwards of 20+ years.

    Advice to Management

Adjunct faculty may often be seen as a disposable population due to not having contracts more than a semester in length, however, these individuals are the ones who will help to carry the department's work load when faculty members are needed. Additional compensation or benefits would be much appreciated by adjunct faculty.
