I have been working at YourMechanic full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The CEO and c-suite is super accessible and smart. Straight shooters and hire well. Love that it's a pick your own adventure kind of place -- meaning if you're motivated and smart then you can make an impact on marketing, biz dev, social, and even product. Everyone is receptive and skilled. There's zero micromanagement, and lots of honest feedback. I also appreciate that about half of the staff is on the mechanics... side of things, so you interact with awesome real blue collar people as well as techies, which is good for understanding all aspects of the business, and frankly good for your soul.

    Cons

Don't love the office -- no windows that open, but a hell of a lot better than a wework/cubicle hell. also a bit noisy in the office, so you have to find a conference room to hide in. But there are dogs here almost daily, so that makes up for it.

    Advice to Management

    keep it up!:)

I have been working at YourMechanic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

a job that allows you the freedom to explore creative solutions to challenging problems

    Cons

unfortunately does not have a good communication and loyalty to its employees. Does not distinguish the hardworking employees that work to benefit the growth and productivity of the company, but rewards those that understand office politics. A dangerous work environment if you don't understand how to push your own agenda for personal gain.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and managers that work closely with one another versus allowing upper management to make decisions based on second hand knowledge and do not understand the day to day duties that are vital to company growth. Upper management should stop keeping everyone in the dark and making major decisions that affect the entire company. The divide between those who make major decisions and those who are... affected by those decisions is so great that there is no clear and focused plan for growth and prosperity.

I worked at YourMechanic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    You make your own schedule

    Cons

Almost everything else. Customer service is horrible. Cant ever get ahold of your "manager." Majority of the parts advisors and customer service agents are completely uneducated about cars and barely speak English so it's very difficult when theres an issue with an appointment or customer. They're very quick to charge the mechanic fees but you have to nearly fight with them for service fees when customers dont show... up or appointments get rescheduled. They dont care about their mechanics at all. All about making a buck. They claim you can make 1200 a week but make you have a service area almost 100 square miles so you could end up driving over 150 miles a day zig zagging across town for appointments. Also if theres ever a problem with one of your previous appointments they send a different tech to "fix" it then charge you the entire cost of the customers repair so you could end up paying a customers $800 bill. I could go on all day about why nobody should EVER be a mechanic for this company.

    Advice to Management

Actually care about your mechanics! Hire more customer service and actually train them correctly! Hire people with automotive experience.
