    Pros

They are a fast-paced work environment that you can learn alot about electronics manufacturing. I learned alot about systematic problem solving procedures.

    Cons

I feel that you cannot trust the management team especially at the site I worked at. Not only do they lie to their employees, they lie to their customers. In recent salary layoffs, in a bordeline illegal fashion, they laid off more capable employees out concern that by laying off employees with more seniority would consume more of their restructuring money. During meetings, they clearly said that they wanted to void any litigation and to get rid of the junior employees. Because they continue to keep poor performers around, TRW Auburn's performance suffers. It is more based on not WHAT you know but WHO you know.

    Advice to Management

Do the right thing and get rid of the dead weight...not the people that are actually giving you good results. Don't lie to employees.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

I dont think Mr Plant knowes of some of the things going on in the rogersville factory, the management needs to be under a microscope and try lisening to some of the people on the floor.

    Pros

The people that I provided customer service to at the different TRW locations were great to work for. As well as there were a lot of team members at my location that cared about their work. There is alot that you can learn on this job and take with you for your own personal career advacement.

    Cons

Workload is too much for the number of employees due to today's economy and down sizing. There is a lack of recognition for employees with no degree who have been doing the job well for many years for less pay. Promotion or advacement within the company only exists for an elite few so many good people are walking and taking their knowledge with them.

    Advice to Management

Corporate Headquarters needs to take a look at the TRW as a whole and the current Management and how things are being run and if it makes proper business sense for the future of the company. TRW also needs to respect employees & reward them for a good job.

    Pros

The products are interesting and the equipment is high end,

    Cons

Poor benifits, high end of cost of living increase is 3% (neg with benifit increase) Low bonus during record profits (2% average). Facility is deplorable & dirty. extremly high number of contract foreign workers with poor english and no work experience. Minimal & discouraging growth within the company. Poor training, improper staffing for programs, long hours, senior managment does not provide a clear path. constant push to use oversea's,

    Advice to Management

Cut the red tape on promoting within, stop bring foreign workers over with no experience unable to speak english, Stop waiting to see what other companies are doing before you make a decision or providing a benift to the internal workforce. Stop waiting for employee's to hand in notice to keep them. Do something about the facility and air quality. Provide a compeditive wage & benifits. Have a clear path to train new employee's.

    Pros

Good opportunities to learn new IT skills. Good people to work with. Relatively flexible with time off. On-call duties weren't too rough (not a lot of out-of-hours pages to handle). 401k match. Benefits aren't (weren't) too bad.

    Cons

Pay was substantially less than what the market was paying for someone with my skills and experience. Raises and bonuses were generally offensively low. HR department is effectively in charge of IT. No respect for ability from manager.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to solve all your "problems" in secret. Trust your staff to do what you hired them to do and stop micromanaging them and questioning their every decision. Not every decision needs to be discussed in excruciating detail in front of a committee of people.

    Pros

We do have some very friendly, upstanding people in management.

    Cons

Low wages ($12.01 for misc. assembly), short breaks ( 5 min, unpaid 20 min, and 5 min), $3,600 yearly insurance deductible, minimal vacation days (none the first year), no workplace communication, interaction training

    Advice to Management

If CEO John Plant earns $78 million, then I am a slave. I earn approx $25,000 per year and he earns approx 3000 times as much. Inadequate compensation (wages, breaks, and benefits) and high quotas have created a hostile work experience. Someday these wage disparities will be a crime and I will enjoy watching the guilty be held accountable.

I worked at ZF TRW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great teamwork and you can gain a significant amount of knowledge from this job which will help with your future career.

    Cons

Management, management, management. Did I mention management? You will not be treated with any amount of respect or dignity from the current management team and you will definitely not be recognized for your hard work. The culture at TRW is the most negative that I have seen and it's readily apparent that the staff are unhappy with the way they are treated by management. There is a lot of finger pointing by management and they take no responsibility for anything. TRW is a terrible place to work.

    Advice to Management

Quit humming, get over yourself, and learn to respect someone other than yourself. It might also help to take the time to attempt to learn about the area(s) that you are managing.

I worked at ZF TRW full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Relatively simple work. Some decent folks as co-workers.

    Cons

Poorly managed. Upper management is routinely dishonest with the production people. A corporate cut throat mentality pervades the management structure. They exercise blatant disregard for the workers needs and ideas. Arrogant and unethical behavior with impunity is evident in management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people. Stop wasting money on bad ideas and ignoring the folks that make the place run. Your employees matter...treat them as such. Some recognition and reward for a job well done would be nice.

I worked at ZF TRW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None. Company is so poorly run. Incredible that company is still surviving. However, competitors are catching up with their products and profits are down. Great place for program managers who have no true skills to get hired into high salaries.

    Cons

Overworked employees. Another review discussed in great detail how 12+ hour days are the norm. Each employee has workload of about 3 people. Working systems are ineffective- simply creates busy work. IT systems do not work either. There is no training and no consistency between people who share roles. Turnover is very high as employees soon realize the poor morale and poor working environment. It is the norm for teams to get into "survival mode" which is stabbing others in the back constantly. There is no encouragement to employees for growth and company as a whole is reactive rather than being progressive.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so selfish and look at the company's growth as a whole and recognize that true growth can only occur when the company invests in ALL employees. Not just upper level managers, VP etc. Mid level managers need to tell executives when their expectations are unrealistic. It's disgusting that the CEO makes millions annually yet hiring freezes are set and bonuses are not paid out to the employees who work 12+ hour days, 6-7 days per week.
