I worked at ZS Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, fun office outings, incredibly smart colleagues, lots of learning opportunities.

    Cons

Training is poor unless you're in the consulting track; there is little room for new 'best practices' or varying workstyles. Too much obsession with the 'ZS Way' without examining whether that's truly the best way.

Little career / business unit development unless you are within the consulting track. Non-client facing titles/ business units get shafted often, and are not included in events, trainings, etc. that could lead to better career development.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at the healthcheck surveys of the non-consulting roles. I'm sure you'll see a lot of repetitive painpoints. Most of which are probably easy to solve, but have been overlooked by management. Some of the most minor issues being solved or acknowledged by management would lead to better retention of non-consulting roles.

I worked at ZS Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Evanston office is easy to get to by train, stocked fridge and time off from Christmas Eve to day after New Year's.

    Cons

ZS is very culture obsessed, can't be an individual. To management things are always great, they drink the Kool aid and expect others to do the same. Bi-annual reviews must always have negative remarks, some colleagues can be passive aggressive.

    Advice to Management

Bring in some new people with new ideas and don't look down on them if they don't completely align with your culture, change is good.

I worked at ZS Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, ability to work from home, casual office environment, young colleagues

    Cons

No direction from management, lack of client work led to undisclosed layoffs, competitive environment, limited on-boarding process, repetitive project work, high turnover, lack of exit options outside of pharma, frequent work with offshore colleagues requires 24/7 on-call culture, employees joining after undergrad strongly favored for promotions versus external hires

    Advice to Management

Do better job of on-boarding and integrating new hires, especially MBAs. Acknowledge turnover issues. Create exit plan and opportunities like other major consulting firms.
