I have been working at ZS Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Compensation leader in the pharmaceutical consulting space.
Office culture (see cons) overall is good and good people to work with.

    Cons

No set standards. In consulting project expenses are billable which is a standard practice across all big consulting firms. Some PAMs on a few projects take advantage of the vague expense policies and harass (quite literally...constant nagging) employees not to expense food and other expenses.

HR is non existent in this office and the reviews, promotions are all driven by perception of the PAM group. There is strong evidence of subjective reviews, office politics and favoritism.

Top down approach in management style. The pace at which this office has grown has resulted in an influx of new employees at PAM level who do not understand the ZS culture and the importance of people. The HR team are falling puppets to PAM team.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees across projects and stop viewing incidents from a PAM lens.

Take the healthcheck results seriously and stop sugarcoating them to your employees. Be upfront, own them and collude with your employees to make things better.

HR team needs to make massive strides in the review process and heeding to employee feedback.

We used to have a great culture when we were 40 - small group, valued and great talent. Take a look at where things stand now - 140 people, disconnect b/w CIG and regular employees, top managers quitting the company, rockstars at once no longer with the company, office culture is non existent, new authoritarian management style and mockery of employee reviews.

    Pros

Always learning something new, great colleagues, the company really cares about and invests in their people

    Cons

Workalike balance is nonexistent unless you're a brand new employee. Expect late nights and weekend work - this is typical for consulting but still difficult to deal with after a few years of having no life outside of work.

I worked at ZS Associates full-time

    Pros

Good offering and they have great control over pharma data analytics landscape. ZS is a leader in the space.

    Cons

I had terrible experience at ZS - most of the work was excel based and no innovation. The worst still was how they treated me as an individual, and specifically attitude towards women. Most managers consider them less competent and have a bias. It is extremely unfortunate!! It seems leadership also has same attitude towards women and doesn't care.

I worked at ZS Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    some very smart kind people,
    some leaders worth following

    Cons

no idea how to grow into larger company.
large 'no whining' signs on HR office doors that people have to pass every day.
'meritocracy' = how much did you kiss up to the office managing principal
significant bias towards people that start at zs and drink the koolaid. significant bias against people bringing fresh, new ideas to the table
most principals are top down and you do what you're told - you are a overpaid glorified secretary.

    Advice to Management

    decentralize performance review and promotions
solicit feedback from your employees more than 1x/year or so
when soliciting employee feedback, get an external party and not an HR 'person' prompting you w biased questions. many of us were market research professionals, the survey you distributed would have caused us to be fired if we shared it with a client.
