I have been working at ZS Associates full-time

    Pros

The company culture is amazing, I don't feel like work is work, it feels like I'm with friends and we just so happen to do work at the same place.

    Cons

You'll always get a difficult person to work with from time to time but they're as common as a blue moon.

    Advice to Management

Got nothing, I need to learn from management.

-Almost all consultants are staffed, rarely put "on bench"
-Diverse company with employees from varying backgrounds

    Cons

-Biggest office is in Princeton (not great town for young people)
-Very Pharma focused (little variety in client industries)

I worked at ZS Associates (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Opportunity for more responsibility and good client facing roles

    Cons

May get slotted into the same type of project or role in project.

    Pros

    1. The people are very smart but very down to earth, which can be a hard balance to strike at consulting firms
    2. The traveling and work/life balance are both much more manageable aspects at ZS compared to other firms
    3. The company places a great amount of focus on learning and development
    4. I am happy with my compensation, and even happier with the way it is determined, which I feel is very fair; we get very healthy raises every July and bonuses every December

    Cons

    1. Work/life balance can still be hard and is definitely by biggest complaint
    2. The offshore/onshore model with teams in India can be challenging and lead to late nights/early mornings
    3. Not enough women in leadership yet, although they are taking good steps to fix that

I have been working at ZS Associates full-time

    Pros

Great benefits that are improved every year-- good maternity leave, great insurance
Hrs are better than other consulting companies
Teams are people oriented (depending on the team you get) but it's easy to move across teams as your interests change

    Cons

Hour expectations increase as you get promoted to the point where I dont believe it's sustainable if you want to have time for your family

I have been working at ZS Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture and the people are supportive and engineered to be highly structured and curious. The engagements are very interesting and one can consider it a multiplier of experience that is difficult to get outside of high level consulting. Have done previous consulting at other boutique firms and ZS is much higher level.

    Cons

Consulting can have long hours or unusual schedules at times. Working with offshore from 10 PM to 11 PM is not uncommon depending on the project type. Generally not a nightly activity.

    Pros

Some of the smartest people I've ever met work here. Great variety of interesting projects. It's challenging but rewarding. Compensation and upward mobility is good.

    Cons

Work life balance can be hit or miss. No bench time puts strain on employees.

    Advice to Management

Start focusing on newer hires to help with retention.
