I worked at Zagro full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

only the work experience or basically it's like being a slave to the company

    Cons

I have seen alot of foreigners in the company with minimum Singaporeans to meet the quota set by MOM. Even if a Singaporean gets into the company they tie them down for 3 years, so you should know what happens when you break the bond. HR isn't really friendly to flexible work policy , it's their way or the high way. They don't really celebrate success a lot too. Senior leaders do not walk the talk but set another rule for themselves. 3rd world working conditions. There's no one talking just ordering people to do work.

    Advice to Management

CEO , please get your act together . Fire your senior leadership team now and put a team in that wants to win as a team . You want the best , pay for the best. Otherwise you are just 1 stingy old men.

I worked at Zagro full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good for fresh graduates to gain experience.

    Cons

Every employee, even managers, are tied down to the company for 3 years by the mandatory employment contract. If an employee decided to leave before 3 years, he/she has to pay the company 6 months of his/her salary, and in addition, serve 3 months of notice period. Otherwise , the management will not accept a resignation before 3 years and 3 months additional notice period. Since the bosses know that everyone there is tied for minumum 3 years and cannot leave, they do not promote people even after 3 years, and they do nothing to invest in any training for employees too.

This company also hires many many foreigners from Malaysia, Phillippines, and nearby countries because they are cheaper to hire compared to the local Singaporean employees. Nearly 50 to 60% of the department where I worked at comprised of Malaysian employees, or former Malaysians who have just received PR in Singapore. Singaporean workers are hired just to make up the quota imposed by the government of the percentage of citizens that need to be employed.

    Advice to Management

Do not tie your employees to the company with a mandatory 3 year bond. And to employees with foreign origin , do not be biased against Singaporean workers. Everyone should be treated fairly and equally.

I worked at Zagro full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There used to be variable bonuses and annual increment.

    Cons

Attitude of senior employees are stuck-up as well as the mid and upper level management people. A family owned business that emphasized too much on 'branding' of its products. Most are unwilling to assist, guide and coach new-comers. Technology and innovations are still outdated and no interests in investing for new systems or production machinery. Most employees remains stagnant or their skills are redundant.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to open-up and listen to subordinates. Hierarchy levels are usually vertically inclined and never reaches to the upper levels management.

I have been working at Zagro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. CEO is quite hands on but very tight with the money still

    Cons

Alot of things that are bad :

    1. All managers have their own agenda and the situation there is very political
    2. Though it has a global name but their thinking is like a SME company
    3. Benefits are like crap
    4. Totally no respect for people
    5. Try to make you sign on a bond for X amount of years and 2-3 months notice which is totally unfair , where they never offer you anything back in return. exp : pay for further studies or etc

    Advice to Management

Look at other companies operate and please operate that way so as to gain an advantage over others
