I worked at Zales Jewelers full-time

    Pros

Great customers, friendly staff, schedule flexibility

    Cons

Understaffed, over budget, salaried picks up the difference, winner/loser attitude of upper management, no acknowledgement of progress or improvement of staff.

    Advice to Management

If you want stores to make goals, all KPIs need to be tracked accurately and the info needs to be accessible to managers. Acknowledge improvement in performance of staff, rather than not aknowledging progress and looking at everything as all or nothing. Praise in public, chastise in private. Make profitablity more important than volume. Basic management skills.

I worked at Zales Jewelers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most of the time you are left to sell your way, as long as your way works. Most of the managers I have had let you do your thing as long as there were results.

    Cons

No loyalty to staff. I had been with this company for about six years, and raises were a joke. Also, when it came time for me to transfer, I looked in two different districts, and was told there were no positions open. One manager even called me "mediocre", despite my being extremely over my sales goal.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, the people at the bottom are the ones that truly run your company. We bust our butts everyday to make you look good, and as soon as we need anything in return, we are seen as "replaceable". You lost a loyal, honest employee that was so proud to be a part of your company, all because a few managers on a power trip wanted to flex some muscle.

    Pros

Opportunities to be successful in a structured environment

    Cons

Lot of pressure to make quota- commission is low unless store makes quota

    Advice to Management

Dont delegate everything, do the office work and train your people.

    Pros

Great people to work with, ability to advance on performance.

    Cons

Some Regional Directors can be sketchy and lack the ability to be a genuine coach and mentor.

    Advice to Management

You should look at the pay rates across the board and adjust those that are unfairly paid due to length of time in position and past financial difficulties of the company. Be a company of integrity when financial matters are made know to you
