I have been working at Zara part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employee discount is 25% plus a $100 gift card bonus for the holidays. And there is a slight opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

You're required to wear a uniform with terrible quality. The company structure and system is very unorganized. They lost one of my paychecks once, the direct deposit takes a little over a month to take effect and there is no guarantee that the paychecks will come in on time. I don't know about other locations but my location never has full coverage, so everything is a mess and we are all overwhelmed. Scheduling is unreasonable. I was once scheduled to close 2-11 and then work shipment 4-1...

Bottom line; it's extremely unorganized and they aren't on top of things. No one will address your issues unless it becomes a problem for them too, and even then it's a complete mess. Retail sucks, but this is hell.

    Advice to Management

Work on organization. No one will take you seriously if you aren't on top of things. I was in line to become a visual, and a month later I still hadn't received my training schedule. And watch how you treat your employees. The biggest problem I see managers have is that they don't know how to talk to people in a respectful manner, and then no one wants to work for them or help them with anything.

    Pros

    The pay is decent
    Employee discount
    Flexible hours when necessary

    Cons

Lazy co-workers who substantially take their time on assigned tasks resulting in low productivity

Some disrespectful managers and team supervisors

    No sense of teamwork

Rarely social co-workers, most employees here are grumpy, uptight...this is quite contagious and significantly brings down the entire team's morale. Seriously, how did these Debbie Downers get hired??? It's understandable that not many enjoy their job but please don't infect everyone with your moodiness. Stay positive.

No room for growth and ideas are easily dismissed

    Advice to Management

    1. Implement a biweekly or monthly employee performance review and gather thoughts from each employee's peers to better come to a conclusion of whether the team member positively or negatively affects the store's values.

    2. Make sure that everyone is working in an efficient manner.

    3. Build a top notch team filled with individuals who build team morale and not those who drag themselves into work with negativity on their face and overall vibe. Laughter, happy faces, and hard work can quickly build a company's success.

I worked at Zara part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Experience in customer service, retail and design.
Pay isn't bad, $11.50/hr + storewide commission (~ makes up for taxes). Don't expect this if retail experience is minimal.
    RFID "training"
Learn how to basically manage a store by yourself as a retail associate.
    Register training (if qualified)
    Floor design experience

    Cons

Unreliable scheduling, don't apply if you have restrictions, if you have a school schedule set, they ignore it and treat you as if you are in the wrong.
Switched to other departments without notice/ knowledge of stock.
    Only training was for register.
No manager, employees in charge of themselves.
    Back stock is constantly unorganized.
    Tedious check out method.

    Advice to Management

    What management?

I have been working at Zara full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best pay in low-mid end retail, good hours depending on what store you end up working at, 25% discount card.

    Cons

Some managers are not trained properly in how to handle its employees, depending on where you end up working it can severely effect the quality of your work life. Lots of good hard working employees in there store that do not get promoted after working for the company for years, while others are offered positions withing months of there hire date.

    Advice to Management

Look to seeing how good of a leader they are personally and learn more about what it takes to motivate employees properly.
