Cons
Definitely easy to work over hours due to high volume of customers and lack of time management.

Awful company to work for, do not be fooled!
Apr 6, 2019 - Sales Advisor - Full Time in Trafford Park, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Only pros of this job are the discount and that you get paid slightly more than other companies in the same role but you are doing 5 times the work anyway so it's the very least they can do.
Cons
Very poor management who are patronizing and unpleasant to work around and have bad communication. No social life on 40-hour contract with the late hours and two days of the week off rarely being on the weekend or consecutive. People are promoted based on favoritism, not performance, education or experience. Everyone including managers speak their native language, not English as it states in the handbook and no one is ever told not to or disciplined so there is no employee harmony. Have to stay an hour and a half after closing just to tidy up so you can imagine how messy it gets, not allowed to leave if the standards aren't finished regardless of how busy it's been. The overall culture of the workplace is awful, you cannot trust anyone. I read the reviews of Zara on the day I got the job and didn't think it could be bad as people said but it truly is.

Task based role + High expectations
Mar 7, 2020 - Sales Assistant in MelbourneRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
As someone who enjoys completing tasks and organising, this job is perfect! Briefing activities at the beginning of each day were really fun and encouraged staff to learn something new about the company they work for. Gives employees great insight into a fast fashion brand and how to operate a successful retail business.
Cons
This job can be stressful at times, as you are expected to deal with a high volume of stock and very quick stock turnover (on the shop floor and in the stockroom). Management was not trained to deal with conflict effectively and did not implement task management strategies. Instead they would put unachievable deadlines on tasks which left you feeling defeated if they were not met. No discount or benefits as a causal sales assistant.

horrible management, friendly staff
Jan 2, 2017 - Sales Associate/Cashier in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
decent pay for retail: low pay for the amount of work zara but consider you're still working as a sales at retail in a mall.. its normal...lol long hours(pro if you need it) stay up to date with trend, learn about fashion.. gives you more retail experience than most other places in shorter time due to the busy environment
Cons
Very busy, fastpaced working environment. You're always on the move so time pass by pretty fast. often have to stay late to help clean the store Horrible customers (you should expect this for any busy retail stores especially when it comes it women's clothing ..) Management is very bad and they do not know how to manage a store at all. Blames employees for every single thing happened in the store on a daily basis. Always short on staff. need to hire more people and train properly. almost everyday the store is either short on cashiers or short on runners on the floor or fitting room...or even manager themselves are no where to be found most of the time when you call them to cash for customers. Customers always complain about this but they don't seem to care as long as they get paid...like to them it's just another customer. very bad to our store image and it looks bad on workers as well but there is very limited things employees can do when managers are bad.

The most AWFUL place to work
Nov 5, 2019 - Sales Assistant in Sheffield, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Paid more than minimum wage. Could use the 25% discount across all Inditex brands
Cons
The store is absolute CHAOS, but for no reason? I have never seen any other clothing store in as much chaos or in as much of a mess as Zara is on any normal day, even when other shops are busier. The folded clothes on tables really add to the MESS. Other members of staff aren't particularly friendly and the management treat you like rubbish. There is no praise in any shape of form or any acknowledgement for doing anything well, the only communication there is is negative with management telling you off over the radio so every other employee can hear (very unprofessional). You tend to be doing the same thing all shift, which gets very repetitive and it means you'll be stressed out the whole shift if you know its busy in store (which it always is). New starters are always shoved into the fitting rooms, which is one of the most stressful jobs. You are told by management to ask for help if you need it, but then when you ask they refuse to help you and tell you off for being too slow. But then when you don't ask they come over and check they ask you why you didn't ask for help? Makes sense doesn't it :) Overall, too much is expected from you, and you are treated so badly. Why work for Zara when you could work for a different clothing brand with better perks, better staff and better management? Breaks are only 20 minutes if you work for 6 hours and the staff room is so small that there is nowhere to sit and if the room is full its so intimidating to even go in there. On my first shift I was told that working at Zara was all about speed rather than providing a good customer service. This is 100% true. You were forced to give bad customer service because how management would treat you for not doing what they told you to do fast enough, even though the role of a sales assistant should be to provide a great customer service. This was impossible to do, which adds to the stereotype of Zara employees being the rudest people. I genuinely dreaded every single shift, so please take my advice and don't work here.
