"Do not work for the SECO contract"

I worked at Zeiders Enterprises part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working with military spouses. Coworkers are also nice, good people who are passionate about what they do.

    Cons

Do not be fooled! This job sounds great on paper and even in the interview. Keep in mind that management is not at all honest about what the job entails during the interview process. Ability to work from home? Great. Everything else? Not so great. If you've worked as a career counselor anywhere else, this is nothing like that. Half of the time, you are reading from a script. And if you don't give specific information in every call, regardless of time constraints or the spouse's needs, you are penalized. Honestly, SECO really doesn't care if you're a good counselor. They care if you can read from a script and check off boxes. They also have your schedule jam-packed. It's a very frenzied environment. Staff members are constantly complaining about their workload and management does nothing about it. DO NOT expect to get all of your work done within your given shift. Also, do expect to be high-anxiety and high-stress your entire shift. Oh, and don't forget to expect changes and more work added to your schedule frequently. Lastly, a coworker told me that she read the glassdoor reviews before applying, and normally she takes them with a grain of salt. She said she wishes she would have taken these reviews seriously! The negative reviews here are accurate. One more thing: you will feel like a robot, not a person. Your supervisor probably won't care to get to know you, and you won't have time to get to know your coworkers. There is literally not time to call a coworker and ask a question.

I have been working at Zeiders Enterprises full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Ability to work remotely. Good direct supervisor. Nice coworkers.

    Cons

Serious micromanagement by upper-level management (those above the Operation Supervisor). Horrible technology infrastructure; the website which houses the military spouse $4k scholarship (for which 75% of people call in for assistance) will stop working for a few minutes to a few WEEKS! Vacation accrual is low and sick leave accrual (1.67 hrs twice a month) is shameful; time of service doesn’t allow you to earn more leave. Traditional call center environment. You must get your holiday off request ahead of other people or you’re forced to work holidays. HIGH turnover of recent (within the last 12 months) Career and Education Advisor hires. Many current employees are desperately searching for new jobs (Advisors and Career Coaches) before the “surge” arrives after Memorial Day. Surge is awful; there’s never enough staff to handle the onslaught of calls. No diversity in upper-management jobs.

Benefits mainly, there is not a lot of pros. It’s a job for now.

Low salary for experience. No management support. Your position is often resented by government employees you have to work with. You aren’t allowed keys to office or office building. No opportunity to advance.
