    Pros

    Great company to work for! Too bad they had to close. Can always try The Bay as they are still around if you want retail work.

    Cons

    Company closed and this put a lot of experienced workers out of a job.

    Pros

    Friendly with a great atmosphere.

    Cons

    Their interviewers are not very efficient and therefore the interview process is very inferior.

    Advice to Management

    Please find efficient HR members who can conduct the interview in a better way which would help the company be effective.

    I worked at Zellers part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    They worked around my school schedule. Plenty of staff members, so there is usually someone else you are working with that you enjoy spending your working time.

    Cons

    The business is closing as Target has purchased the company. One of the last large Canadian retailers in the space.

    Advice to Management

    It is important to keep staff personal schedules in mind when scheduling. It made a big difference in my staying with the company for as long as I did.

    I have been working at Zellers

    Pros

    The discount policy, associate buying club and ability to transfer to other locations fairly easily. Work isn't terribly hard.

    Cons

    1. Discount policy is changing. In order to recieve a discount, all employees must use hbc credit card. 2. Credit blend and credit card referrals are the only thing management cares about. 3. Very little opportunity for advancement or recognition. 4. Almost no feedback from supervisors or management. 5. Virtually no training. 6. Health and safety is not a priority.

    Advice to Management

    Give incentives to non-cash employees, improve health and safety awareness, train new employees, ensure there are opportunities for raises, review performance regularly and give feedback.
