I have been working at Zenefits full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's never dull at Zenefits! The volume of business can be overwhelming at times; however, I much prefer that to scrounging for things to do. It's unique in that a knowledge of the insurance industry is key, but you must also have a working knowledge of software and the ability to pick things up quickly. Frequent changes are a way of life here. I've found that those who have a hard time adjusting don't tend to last long. The culture is young and fun and the floor plan is open. It takes a bit to get used to the noise level but I don't know how I would function without it now. Conference rooms are available for client calls. The kitchen is fully stocked, lunches are catered daily and vacation time is unlimited. We function by way of accountability. Micromanaging is a non-issue. It's a shame they're cutting broker services although an understandable business decision.

    Cons

Start-ups always come with cons. It can be frustrating to constantly adjust processes and best practices; however, it's also fantastic to be part of the process in determining those.

I have been working at Zenefits full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Lots of snacks, foods
    - Work-life balance is great at this time, 3 - 4 hours of work at most every day for engineers.

    Cons

    - Half of the strongly experienced employees have left the company in the past 3 months.
    - New hires with weak background cannot handle work as well as previously experienced employees.
    - There is no growth for a long time and a big failure on sales this year.

    Advice to Management

Hard to say, I don't think there is real professional 'Management' here.

I worked at Zenefits full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team, great manager before lay-offs, important work.

    Cons

The director of our team changed six times in the year and a half I was at Zenefits. Zenefits was disorganized mess with poor communication. I left for a new position and two months later the remainder of my team was laid off.

The whole mess is particularly sad, because the product was really innovative and could have been great.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication and invest time and value in to your employees.

I have been working at Zenefits full-time

    Pros

Good work-life balance, snacks in the office

    Cons

Leadership is conflict-avoidant. Workers aren't operating as one team. There's not a lot of trust in the leadership. And there are a lot of new VPs who don't value long-term employee feedback.

    Advice to Management

The new vision of the company has potential. Everybody is hanging around with the hopes of going public. Give us another reason to hang around besides equity.

    Pros

    Great office
    Great coworkers
Startup - Freedom to work autonomously and grab as much responsibility as you want
    Great vacation policy
    Free kitchens

    Cons

startup - things are constantly changing
    lack of clarity from management

    Advice to Management

Be more realistic with expectations. My coworkers are some of the best and brightest people I've ever met. If management could communicate more effectively it would fix a lot of underlying issues including turnover.

I have been working at Zenefits full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Zenefits is a great place to work! Awesome people and a supportive and fun team culture. We have new leadership and a new office. The company just rebranded and partnered with One Digital so now we can share our tech with a lot more companies. We have regular training and lots of lunches. I'm impressed with the direction we are taking and the company is primed to grow quickly. Very good product and only getting better. Excellent career opportunity!

    Cons

Still transitioning and making a lot of changes but a great time for new hires to get started. There are many companies competing in the HR space but we have an innovative and disruptive product that people really like.

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to be on the same page but the culture is strong and teams are collaborating.
