I have been working at Zep full-time

    Pros

Before new ownership you had endless freedom and ability to make great money, crazy good money. For 90+ years was a company driven by sales people. Used to be rewarded for hard work. Now every sales rep is making significantly less money as management reduces commission rates about every 6 months.

    Cons

Now the company is driven by all the old Diversey people. Which means Zep is doomed! Company now has more managers then ever. In fact they can't hire any managers that come from the industry. Basically no training, no support and keep putting policies in place to make job harder. No yearly bonus program (just monthly incentives).

    Advice to Management

We are beyond fixing. We will be sold as a whole or sold off in parts or spun off/bankruptcy. Any way it goes down, will not be good for average employee.

I worked at Zep (More than a year)

    Pros

    They will eventually sell off

    Cons

The first time in my career I have been asked to compromise my integrity

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. New CEO has no regard for anyone.

    Pros

Independent working environment. Once a great company who truly cared about its people. A lot of high quality individuals met over the years , most of them gone.

    Cons

Absolutely no direction at all. Offers zero expenses paid. No structure, no help from management. Like working on a island.

    Advice to Management

Maybe too late with recent purchase by mountain capital group. They will tear it apart with no regard for its people. Run if you can.

    Pros

-great products and small working environment where most co-workers know each other

    Cons

-Sales most important business unit; therefore all other departments are very unorganized
-Little to No IT; Weak Technology
-Very antiquated practices & procedures; Nothing consistent or streamlined
-Most managers lack the necessary skills to lead & mentor their staff; Most were appointed because of tenure.
-No upward mobility opportunities at their regional offices. You must work at their Corporate site in Atlanta for possibilities of advancement.

I have been working at Zep (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people and products. Reputable brand recognition.

    Cons

Very disorganized. Recently purchased by an equity company, New Mountain Capital, and ripping apart the company and cutting very good experienced people. It will soon be just a shell of it's self.

    Pros

They give you way more then you can handle is it looks good on a resume

    Cons

Literally the most disorganized place I've ever worked. Customer service is joke. Credit is laughable. The company doesn't have a direction unless that's down. No investment in your growth. Upper management wouldn't know a good employee if it smacked them in the face. I couldn't get out fast enough. I had the worst manager ever. He literally said he didn't think it would work out when I had running a division of the company for 4 months without any direction or knowledge of the takeover. New mountain capital has no clue. Run the other way fast.

    Advice to Management

Cut your loses and sell to someone that knows how to run a business

    Pros

If you don't know what you are doing, this is the place for you. They don't either!!

    Cons

Before Zep was purchased, their processes were weak or non-existant. Now that New Mountain Capital has taken over, they are attempting to "flip" the company in an 18-month period. This means laying off a large number of people and making HORRIBLE management decisions. Their supply chain is run by people who have never cracked a book, and never worked anywhere else. They believe that setting thousands of items to reorder points is cutting-edge supply chain work. My advice is RUN, don't walk from this company.

    Advice to Management

By your own design, you will be gone soon. Can't wait to see you fail.
