Pros

Cons
a lot of change because we're a fintech start up

Pros
Selling AE to fintech is amazing. If you can talk ROI, you're onto something. The Zest team is brilliant and the product amazing and rewarding.
Cons
The finance team makes it really hard to sell. All deals have to pass a gross margin percentage and it's a moving target. The deal desks get quite heated. Leadership leans in on all deals, can be good if the deal is on track, if not the CEO and his buddy (constantly changing title) lean in too far and kill the deal.

Pros
I've been here long enough to see pretty much the entire upper management team turn over, and it has been for the better. There used to be a lack of trust, space to self-manage, and company focus, but that has improved significantly. In recent years, communication has been open, company strategy hasn't always worked but has been clear and focused, and employees feel empowered and trusted to take on large important projects. The reasons Zest is a great place to work on the day to day have evolved during Covid - office perks and free food have swapped out for remote work and the flexibility that comes with that. We're heading towards a long-term hybrid balance with a few days at home and a couple in the office each week, and for me that's the best of both worlds.
Cons
"Unlimited PTO" has been shown in general to result in less time off actually taken by employees, and I think that's probably true at Zest too. However, people do take vacations and I've even seen management notice and step in when they haven't in a while.

Cold Kombucha. If you don't like Kombucha then meh....
Cons
Total Toxic workplace dominated by unreliable, and unavailable senior Sales and Exec team. This company feels like a used car dealership that somehow stumbled across AI/ML and stitched together a slick sounding software. A stretch? This company was a Payday lender. Research their history its all there for the reading.

Pros
Very appealing mission - helping with racial fairness of lending operations. This drew me to take role on Zest team. Great leadership - clear direction and well vocalized discussions of important. executive business policy available to all. COVID-19 policy = A+ Lots of opportunity for advancement and professional leadership on industry-changing topics. across the business, clear organizational level-setting. Making leaps and bounds of progress in new tech space. Happy, big-name customers excited about working with team. Incredibly high performing team across the board. Collaborative environment with cutting-edge product enhancement. Perks are FANG-esque: outstanding.
Cons
Not many. . . Most existing organizational issues have seen significant progress over last year with leadership effectively communicating changes. Not much room for introductory roles - the specificity of Zest AI's product, and importance of our product for customers requires higher-than-usual base expertise in your respective field, or the ability to quickly adapt and "speak the lingo". Under-performers are released fast across departments. While the leadership of each team is outstanding, there can be a knowledge gap for those who don't pick up processes quick. Already relatively diverse, especially for financial industry, but needs more people of color in leadership positions especially on the business side of house.

Company changed from a culture that was about doing the best work to one that is about selling whatever a customer will buy.
