I have been working at Zions Bancorporation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the best, most friendly colleagues I've ever met. Provides reinvestment opportunities. Wonderful work/life balance. Best boss I've ever worked for.

    Cons

Can get a bit boring during the slow periods. Benefits are a bit lackluster.

I worked at Zions Bancorporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Offers good work-life balance, remote work as needed. Gives you time to learn/study for your personal gain or work-related.

    Cons

Poor management, most of the time no one cares. Zero teamwork, you are dealing with stupid imposed targets even if your job is not in sales or anything related. Everyone else is dumping things on you and they expect you to do it just because they think they are better than you just because are above you in terms of position or department. You are being looked at like you are plain garbage most of the time. You are being...

    Advice to Management

Stop being so full of yourself. Stand by your team, create a team, to begin with. Pay your employees what they should get. If you are pushing so hard on separation of duties than, make it clear across the board that all departments must follow the same rules and do their job. Stop hiring incompetence people and stop making stupid decisions like contracts with vendors that are not doing anything but taking your money....

I have been working at Zions Bancorporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Offers good work life balance for those with families. Not as aggressive as some of the other banks. Give you time to learn something and try. Salt Lake City offers a relatively good quality of life for the cost of living. All four seasons with great access to outdoors.

    Cons

Stuck in old times of manually evaluating each and every loan application. Struggled with very low efficiency ratios and as a result has seen a lot of layoffs and reorganizations in past 3-4 years. Not as stable as it used to be years past. Heavy focus on commercial lending has resulted in low overall profitability further exacerbating impact of tight margins in last few years. Management tends to be very conservative...

    Advice to Management

Try to expand into other consumer products. Consider getting back into servicing of mortgage loans.

I have been working at Zions Bancorporation full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great people, good work-life balance, good name recognition in the community.

    Cons

People come to Zions Bancorporation because it represents stability and connection to the community. Unfortunately, over the last several years it has been woefully unstable, despite what it looks like from the outside. Employees are unhappy, but few dare to say anything about it. There continues to be massive change, organizational realignments, and consequently people are always in fear of losing their jobs. ...

    Advice to Management

Retire, please. Let someone take over who actually cares about people and not just padding the wallets of investors and themselves. You all ought to be embarrassed.

I have been working at Zions Bancorporation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Zions focuses on integrity and customer relationships. Because of this the atmosphere in the office is light and positive. Work life balance is greathe and oppurtunities to rise in the company are many.

    Cons

Pay may not be as competitive as some other banks for the comparative positions and responsibilities

    Advice to Management

Work to become more competitive with larger banks

I have been working at Zions Bancorporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This place definitely places personal issues above work. The work life balance that Zions provides is second to none. Everyone is lax and wants to make sure you are happy here.

    Cons

Lower average salary. So much red tape/people to go through to get processes complete.

    Advice to Management

Clean up some of the middle management. There are a lot of positions that are just for reporting purposes.

I worked at Zions Bancorporation full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Stable job, good work life balance, flexibility, good people and friendly environment, 401K match, nice company training opportunities and lunches/events, good company culture overall

    Cons

Pay is on the low end for market standards, it's tough to get a promotion even though management supposedly cares about the progression of its employees, people with inside connections end up in manager positions, health benefits are horrible, processes are way too complex, some people's paths to promotions are much easier than others regardless of quality of work done

    Advice to Management

Retain your employees who do good work, open up your wallets and pay them what they deserve. Too many talented employees who wanted to stay had to go elsewhere to achieve progression and better pay when they could have easily been kept within the company. Don't wait for good employees to get an offer elsewhere to offer them promotions/raises

I worked at Zions Bancorporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work life balance is good. Some managers are really trying to do the right thing by their staff and for the company.

    Cons

Poor healthcare benefits. While the premiums are lower than average, you have to put money away each month in an HSA to cover the very high annual deductibles, $3,000/individual/year or $12,000/family/year. If you have kids, you will take a huge financial hit every year. All dental and vision is out of pocket with only 50% reimbursement and you have to do all the paperwork yourself. Claims get denied without proper...

    Advice to Management

Value the contributions your employees make and compensate them for making it possible for the bonuses you take home. Fix the healthcare benefits and poor compensation. Hire the people you need to do the job or get off the backs of those people trying to keep the lights on.
