    I worked at Zipcar full-time

    Pros

-Get discounted zipcars during the week

    Cons

-Local markets have little control over salary
-Pay is terrible and there is a huge wage gap between middle level and management salaries as well as local market and home office
    -Non-compete clause
    -Not enough room to grow

    Advice to Management

You're not a startup anymore so stop acting like one. Compensate your employees better. You can hold all of the 401k info sessions you want, but your staff won't be able to attend because they don't make enough to save.

I have been working at Zipcar full-time

    Pros

Fantastic industry makes for interesting discussions, good people who are generally passionate about the environmental mission, good work location + work/life balance = sustainable lifestyle, generally interesting day-to-day problems, fun quirky brand empowers a fun culture, not many b2c tech players at scale, fun dynamic culture

    Cons

Uncertainty about strategic future, uncertainties impact career growth opportunities for the ambitious, the curse of competency - those who are good get more piled on them while those who are mediocre skirt along without repercussions.

    Advice to Management

Reinvest in corporate culture, Use corporate culture as a screen for new hires, reinvest in career development, provide a clear vision for growth both for the company and individuals

    Pros

You will work with amazing people. The local office staff are friendly and want you to succeed at your job. Therefore, they will throw whatever they can your way to make sure you can succeed.

    Cons

The pay was very low and the turnover rate is very high. ABG was not willing to budge very much on salary.

    Advice to Management

DO what you can to save employees from leaving

I have been working at Zipcar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - there are a lot of driven, intelligent people at the company who truly care about car-sharing and having an impact
    - very relaxed office atmosphere; casual dress code, summer fridays, beer carts
    - managers take an interest in building your skillset as an employee

    Cons

    - sporadic layoffs are handled poorly by leadership; ABG keeps cutting to try and squeeze profit out of us, but there is not much more room to cut.
    - high turnover: intelligent people leave the company because of too many reorgs
    - salary truly leaves something to be desired

    Advice to Management

    - Improve your onboarding process so employees aren't thrown to the wolves as soon as they start
    - Have a more tangible system of progression and promotion throughout the company so that talented people don't leave
    - Leadership Team needs to more clearly communicate our needs to Avis. If they don't invest in us and our future, there is no way we will succeed.

    I worked at Zipcar full-time

    Pros

Great culture it's very "young", awesome management, you meet so many different people in your department from other regions

    Cons

The pay isn't always great. Anything under Coordinator or associate is fairly low. Avis is dragging Zipcar down. Zipcar has so much potential but Avis isn't letting them grow how they should..

    Advice to Management

It's not really anything with management exactly it's the fact that Zipcar can do/be so much more but are very limited with what Avis gives them

    I worked at Zipcar full-time

    Pros

Coworker's are great people to be around and full-time employees are given a decent amount of vacation time/sick days.

    Cons

Pay isn't nearly enough for the amount of work that is expected. Quickly feel burn-out.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and if you create more work for them, make sure they are fairly compensated for that time.
