I have been working at Zips Dry Cleaners part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Everyone that works the same shift tends to get along well The employees that perform much of the labor in the back are professional They train you as a cashier even if you have no cashier experience. Too many employers do not want to train cashiers. Decent music coming from the back When a problem occurs, they nip it in the bud. If you make a mistake, they teach you. Scheduling can be communicated via text message,...

    Cons

They keep your hours to less than 20 per week. You are told to watch your hours. Every clock is anywhere between 3 and 10 minutes fast. They never fix it, or don't know how.

    Advice to Management

Hourly should start at more than $8.00 per hour. It should be competitive. Adjust prices so staff can get a reasonable raise. Cashiers should get those foot pads: hard floors are the bane (enemy) of backs. Other than that, keep up the laughter/good vibes as that is sorely needed in a struggling economy/country.

I worked at Zips Dry Cleaners

    Pros

Lots of customer interaction, great environment to learn a lot and gain a promotion, if you're a hard worker. No matter what I say below in the Cons, this was a great starter job and everything else just depends on who the store owner is. Great Corporate Culture. Everyone from HQ was always friendly and forgiving while simultaneously a great teacher and leader to rely on when you need them. Except on Inspection days....

    Cons

It's retail service, you're going to get very aggressive and self-centered customers mixed in with some really great ones. Be prepared to put on your customer-service mask and deal with them. Depending on your work ethic and initiative, you can move up, but because it's a franchise, this also heavily depends on the store owner. I've worked multiple locations and saw first hand the (hopefully) subconscious bias towards...

    Advice to Management

To the Franchise HQ: Push your franchise owners to follow a common guideline when it comes to hiring and promoting, but don't push the daily operations standards so damn hard. Different stores and locations NEED different operations processes. I worked for about 3 stores as a manager and each one had very different requirements. Also, consider pushing for higher prices with an emphasis on the convenient efficient services...

I worked at Zips Dry Cleaners part-time

    Pros

They are willing to work with you if you're in school, you get some nice customers, coworkers got along good.

    Cons

*The a/c is the #1 problem at Zips, makes working here very uncomfortable. *Sometimes you get some rude customers that will not listen to reason and it always falls onto the cashier until a manager is asked for. *management can be a little better . *The pay sucks, it's minimum wage which should be increase for the amount of labor we put in. *Can be really stressful.

    Advice to Management

Show more appreciation to your employees that have to work in all that heat and take care of the a/c problem so working at Zips can actually be enjoyable.
