    Pros

Company legitimately invests in their employees, management does everything they can to help you succeed.

    Cons

Unless you are a young, attractive woman, don't count on getting any of the internal "Brand Champion" positions.

I have been working at Zones full-time

    Pros

Potential to make a descent amount of money and to open doors to other industry related positions and companies,

    Cons

Low Salary. Possibilities of growth but if you want to make real money you better fall in the top 5% of the sales team. Everything else is smoke. Leadership seems confused on where they want to take the company.

    Advice to Management

Losing lots of people to other companies and manufacturers.
PAY MORE and they will be willing to stay and see where the company goes.
Don't change compensation plans on your sales team in the middle of the year.

I have been working at Zones full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Zones is a really fun enviornment to work in. It's easy to build strong internal and external relationships with both sales specialist and vendor partners.

    -Friendly
    -Sales Training
    -Commision and Base Pay
    -Constantly Expanding
    -Technology Knowledge
    -Sales Opportunities

    Cons

Constant Changes both in commission and sales structure
    Don't take sales executive serious
Dont seem to value their employees

    Advice to Management

Start listening to what your AE's have to say. Your constant changes make an impact on their day to day and taking away a book and starting from scratch is going to impact both their take home and ability to hit the large goals you set.

I have been working at Zones full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good location, nice building, team atmosphere.

    Cons

Low hourly wage. Decisions come from VP's who do not know the internal process/methods.

    Advice to Management

Look at the average length of employee tenure......Pay your people more, give your executives the ability to work remotely after an allotted tenure with position.

I worked at Zones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people in the Portland office are really great, lunch is provided occasionally, and it's better not being at the home office.

    Cons

Many of the problems can be traced back to the owner. The company is constantly shifting direction based on the changing mind of the owner and once he makes a decision he demands things change immediately regardless of how practical it is. The result is initiatives either don't get fully implemented or they are done sub-par. Nothing seems to get executed well. In all honesty, Zones is not well respected in the industry.

The comp plan has changed twice this year. When the year started, no one knew what it was going to be. Goals were delayed but went into effect retroactively. It seems that nothing is done on time.

The 401k contribution is well below average. Pay is well below average. You don't get vacation your first year and then you can only earn a max of two weeks. The health plan is below average. The company is unable to hire people to keep up with the number of people that are leaving.

    Advice to Management

Many of the upper management are not qualified and even if they were, the owner makes all the decisions. My advice, liquidate the company.

I worked at Zones full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-They really try to enable AE's to do their jobs well
    -Lots of tools and resources
-For the most part they are fair and equitable
-There are some really great people at this company
-I was able to make a great living while I was there and I am grateful in many ways

    Cons

-The culture of the company has taken a huge hit
-Upper management is not in touch with the individual contributors
-Upper management makes a lot of poor decisions and the consequences are not well thought out
-Reduction of employee incentives, raised goals, reduced comp plans
-Pay is not on par with Portland tech companies
    -Trust is low

In general, it feels like the company just doesn't care about it's sales people. I think this is an issue with upper management.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job making sure that you listen to your top performers. You are not in touch with your sales people, most people are not proud to work for you and for good reason. Nobody wants to feel like a number... You are way too old school and that doesn't compete in an industry with lots of good tech sales jobs. Do a better job retaining your performers.
