I worked at Zones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid holidays, competitive base salary, great work/life balance, great resources

    Cons

Communication with management is lacking, they roll things down to PPM weeks after things get finalized. Its almost impossible to make a bonus.

    Advice to Management

Trust us and give us reasonable goals to achieve.

I have been working at Zones full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good location, nice building, team atmosphere.

    Cons

Low hourly wage. Decisions come from VP's who do not know the internal process/methods.

    Advice to Management

Look at the average length of employee tenure......Pay your people more, give your executives the ability to work remotely after an allotted tenure with position.

I worked at Zones full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-They really try to enable AE's to do their jobs well
    -Lots of tools and resources
-For the most part they are fair and equitable
-There are some really great people at this company
-I was able to make a great living while I was there and I am grateful in many ways

    Cons

-The culture of the company has taken a huge hit
-Upper management is not in touch with the individual contributors
-Upper management makes a lot of poor decisions and the consequences are not well thought out
-Reduction of employee incentives, raised goals, reduced comp plans
-Pay is not on par with Portland tech companies
    -Trust is low

In general, it feels like the company just doesn't care about it's sales people. I think this is an issue with upper management.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job making sure that you listen to your top performers. You are not in touch with your sales people, most people are not proud to work for you and for good reason. Nobody wants to feel like a number... You are way too old school and that doesn't compete in an industry with lots of good tech sales jobs. Do a better job retaining your performers.

I have been working at Zones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really great colleagues and the atmosphere in the Portland Office is very friendly and supportive. The new office it an improvement

    Cons

The CEO micromanages instead of focusing on a consistent strategy. The result is constantly changing priorities and individual leaders are stuck with pursuing his pet projects instead of using their talents to accomplish larger strategic goals.

    Advice to Management

The CEO should focus on strategic vision and let his people figure out how to get there. This begins with hiring the best people but unfortunately that doesn't always happen as nepotism and loyalty are placed at a much higher value.

    Pros

Great job to get cold calling experience. The Portland office is great!

    Cons

They lead you on about how much you can make in my opinion, and it takes nearly 2 years for you to get the salary you actually want to have.

    Advice to Management

Raise the base pay and you won't see such a high turnover in employees.

I have been working at Zones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Colleagues are nice, free food, trainings on subject matter and new products, entry-level sales experience, liberty to go about your day as you want

    Cons

They say it gets betters the longer you stay… however unless you have sales experience or are one of the few lucky ones who have sales skills to begin with, it takes a long time to develop them.

The managers are nice, but they don't exactly have the best advice or coaching ability to help an AE do their job efficiently.

Even reading most of the pros of working at zones, the best part is probably just the people you meet.

You can be hard working but still get nowhere within the role due to how they go about business.

They promote is as every process will flow smoothly... When it'll take about almost a week to get the status of a certain order sometimes!

The company retains very few people in this role and it is hard to know whether the time you put in at Zones is actually worth it or not.

    Advice to Management

Train your salespeople to be more credible so that they're confident, instead of having to rely on resources to do all the talking.

Help out your salespeople if you expect to reach what seems like an unreasonable goal for the company.

I have been working at Zones full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

In my 9+ years at Zones I have had many opportunities to get out of my comfort zones, grow and achieve my goals. When I started with Zones, I didn't even have goals, it was just a sales job. There are very few places that you will get to learn so much about so many different areas of the business world in such a short time.

    Cons

Change can be swift and not always understood by the people in the seats making the calls and owning the relationships. Requires a certain amount of trust and that can be difficult for a lot of people. Options to work remote are limited but slowly increasing.

    Advice to Management

Benefits package could improve. Social media presence needs to be addressed. Remote work options should be reviewed and opened up, Zones is missing out on a lot of opportunities for high caliber sellers because of this old school thought process.

High stress position- be prepared to work hard. No cake walks.

    Advice to Management

    Straight forward strategy.
