The best company I've ever worked for.
Aug 4, 2022 - IT Analyst in SydneyRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Every company has a statement saying they care about their employees, customers, and company mission, however few take steps to show this. Zoom truly lives by it's mission of delivering happiness. *An absolutely fantastic company culture, the interview process is thorough and the result is a company of truly wonderful people who work to better the product, those around them, and themselves. *Zoom offers truly competitive salaries, & in my opinion an unmatched benefits program. Forma(formerly twic) salary stipends, RSU's, Comprehensive medical cover, BYOD reimbursement, In-office lunches, regular in-and out of office events, and more. Zoom is constantly expanding and reworking their benefits to ensure they stay relevant & competitive. *Flexible working hours and for the majority of roles, the freedom to work Remote, Hybrid, or in office. Zoom trusts it's employees to get the job done and gives them the tools to do it where they are most productive & happy. *Open and honest communication, and the best Senior leadership team i have ever worked under. Zoomies are encouraged to be open and honest with others and to share our ideas, and this is facilitated both in person & over our platform. In addition, the Senior leadership team at Zoom is absolutely incredible. In particular our CEO Eric Yuan is the kindest , most empowering & thoughtful leader I have ever worked for. *Ample opportunities for Career development. Zoom provides their employees with several tools to exponentially grow their skills & knowledge within their role. More importantly Zoom encourages and sets aside time for employees to have regular development chats with their managers, and discuss where they would like to see their career go, and how their manager can help them get there. *An excellent work-life balance. Zoom will regularly promote & remind employees to take time off & recharge, and in the shorter term we're encouraged to break up the working day, whether that's coffee with a coworker or complimentary guided meditation & workout sessions. *An inclusive and truly diverse workplace. Zoom truly and simply does not discriminate, and as a result we have a wonderfully diverse and beautiful team.
Cons
The only Con to working at Zoom (internationally) is that it is a HIGHLY US centric company. With the majority of our employees & our Senior Leadership team in the US, international employees such as myself often have to work around several hurdles & will miss some opportunities that Zoom employees in the US have. For example, Zoom facilitates Daily events such as Yoga, Meditation, and full body fitness. This is an excellent initiative which i deeply support, however as an employee in Australia these are held at 1am, 2:30am, or 5:00am. Several of our company wide meetings also take place extremely late, or really early. While it is impossible to accomodate for every timezone with one meeting, seeing alternating schedules to suit employees in the US, EMEA, and APAC timezones would be a fantastic solution.

It is a lot larger than when I started. Always a lot of growing pains but they are doing the best they can.

Fearful Work Environment w/Bullying
May 17, 2023 - Product Manager in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Good pay & benefits - Great colleagues - Big name on my resume - Learned how to release features = new skill sets
Cons
- Terrible executive leadership with zero company strategy & treat their employees like crap (Oded & Aparna) - Company ran like a dictatorship meaning there is no collaboration bc of fear to look dumb or get publicly yelled at by leadership - Very siloed work environment makes it a tough place to create good features - Bullies get rewarded for decent work, yet mean behaviors (I spoke to 3 lawyers & unfortunately it’s tough to have a case against workplace bullying unless there is physical violence) - I had a terrible manager who completely ignored me & didn’t engage with me at all. Whenever I’d reach out to ask for work, he’d tell me to chill out, so I’d ask around my team to look for work & eventually I’d find it. - Closed work culture - Overall, bad leadership at all levels, fearful work environment & HR protects the company, not people

Great Tech -- horrible sales org
Jun 5, 2023 - Enterprise Account Executive in Dallas-Fort WorthRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great technology; platform is hands down the best I've used in 20 years of sales. Nice people
Cons
- Upper management does not view Enterprise as valuable - Enterprise Comp plan is the exact same as SMB - No chance at hitting your quota. The numbers are unattainable. - If you joined after Covid the equity is negative. - Managers micro manage and read the news up to leadership - Zero marketing. I mean Zero. No one even knows what we do outside of meetings. - Getting eaten alive by Teams is free and leadership doesn't want to hear it.

Pros
Benefits used to be pretty good, but they've been slowly moving away from a policy of "employee caring" and more into that same corporate mindset. That said: Health Vision Dental 401k RSUs "Unlimited" PTO Career Guidance
Cons
The technical side is mostly run by a singular demographic that minimizes the opportunity for input if you aren't of said demographic. There's frequent (daily) language barriers due to this that make cooperation and authorization a black hole of uncertainty. I frequently found myself asking someone to translate a request, waiting almost a week, and then getting a flat "we don't do that" without explanation or reasoning. Makes doing your job difficult.

Used to be a great place to work
Apr 7, 2023 - Account Executive in Denver, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- loved the team we were working with - Eric Yuan was a fun and compassionate leader - Decent benefits
Cons
- New leaders that joined in a year ago really made the place feel toxic - Our segment hadn't hit a single quarter since we had new leadership. This may have something to do with the market or something with the new leadership (maybe just an sad coincidence) - alignment of the books was unfair for most and favorable for few. Several people provided feedback to management, but they always got the cold shoulder. They would always say to control what you can control. Many top performers were selling to out of segment (way out of segment) - right after they did layoffs, they were hiring for the similar positions - the last year was the worst for employee morale - they went from such a great culture to not so great - no transparency in promotions - no specific path to help people get promoted - the new management wanted everyone to go to a 'yes, I will do that' mentality

Pros
The great managers are GREAT. The product has become a "need to have" in most industries, so you don't have to explain to people what Zoom does or how they could use it. The product innovation is unlike anywhere else I've worked. New features and products are released at lightening speed and for the most part, they are working well and successful from the get-go. The CEO, Eric Yuan, continues to be a great leader through challenging times.
Cons
Like a lot of companies, the managers and department leaders are hit or miss, and your experience can be night and day depending on which leader you have. Leaders don't have a formal evaluation process, so bad ones can sit in their role for a while and it's next to impossible to change teams unless you get a promotion to a new segment. Lay-offs in February 2023 were just the start of a lot of organization and compensation changes and cuts. You have to work a lot harder to make less. Also, Microsoft and Google have put on a lot of pressure and Zoom is fighting to stay competitive.

A Mixed Bag - Lots of Positives - Plenty of Challenges
May 24, 2023 - Mid Market Account ExecutiveRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
We get to sell the best communication and collaboration tools in the business today and to be part of constant innovation to better connect the world.
Cons
There has been a lot of change at high level leadership positions (outside hires) that has lead to a feeling of being bogged down by so many processes and challenges to a degree that we have minimal time to connect with our customers and focus on how we can help them optimize collaboration, connection, and communication.

Very generous
Apr 13, 2023 - Senior Technical Writer in Pleasant Grove, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They're very generous with their salaries and base it on your title and geographic location. When I started, there were lots of incredible benefits: $300 monthly wellness stipend, phone reimbursement, yearly credit in the company store, unlimited book reimbursement, free online fitness sessions, stock purchase plan, RSUs, etc. Although I was part of the massive layoffs in 2023, they had a very generous severance package. The culture is also extremely friendly and inviting.
Cons
Over the year I was with the company, some of the benefits disappeared without much warning. Their products have a fast-paced monthly release cycle. Management needs to work on their foresight. Like many tech companies, Zoom had a massive layoff at the beginning of 2023.
