I worked at Zumiez full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This was a great job to work at in my early college days, working full time with some great people. Learning a vast amount of product knowledge, sales, marketing, merchandising, coaching and management.

100k trip is great and Rocktober is also another great trip offered by Zumiez

    Cons

The store does not have any kind of folding boards so it's basically folded to the best of your abilities. There is no guide or directive for merchandising the store. Very aggressive sales approach.

I have been working at Zumiez part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is nice. Commission is a good way to increase wages. Coworkers are usually pretty chill and fun to work with

    Cons

As a sales associate you only make minimum wage and in my state that is 7.25. That is pretty poor but you have opportunity to make commission to compensate for the short comings.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to always ask did anyone help you and not take sales. Also higher wages.

I have been working at Zumiez full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You really get to be yourself when you're working. Listen to the music you want, dress how you want. You learn customer service extremely quick. You learn the basics of operating a small business ie: ordering supplies, fulfilling customer online orders, hiring me employees, during employees, displaying the store how you see fit, taking new employees. There are also pretty fun events that the company puts on.

    Cons

Insultingly low pay for the amount of work and stress the job entails. Yes the job excuses and l am ready going environment, but there is so so much more to it. The low pay really well start to get to you. I only make two doors more than the sales assisted and I've been promoted twice.

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees a little more. Yes the company is fun, but you can only survive for so long making so little.

I have been working at Zumiez part-time

    Pros

Great people, positive environment, you'll love working here. The focus Zumiez has on their customers is ideal for any retail store and it's what makes Zumiez successful. I've learned a lot about retail from Zumiez due to how consistent and hands on they are with sales training and visual merchandising.

    Cons

Lack of hours and little compensation for the amount of commitment required. Lots of great employees have left due to this issue.

    Advice to Management

Zumiez needs to commit to employees as much as the Zumiez employees commit to their customers.
