I have been working at Zumiez part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awsome work environment! Great Customer service! Awsome Staff Events! Awsome Staff relationships

    Cons

This company hires usually young and immature teens who a-lot of the time is their first job, that turns into those teens getting higher positions in the company which makes them in charge of even younger even more immature teens. This creates a cycle of HORRIBLE work place drama and hostile work environments which higher higher management can't see. This job was 100% my life, I loved my job and every single day I loved it even more. But now i'm seeing my time here come to a close.

    Advice to Management

Take more time to realize that the people you are hiring and are dealing with are kids, and kids don't know anything sometimes and thats apart of life, people make mistakes. ( even you guys do! ) so don't flip out and change things when something bad happens and don't throw away peoples ideas and opportunities because of your ego. This shows that the management even at my store have a lot of growing up to do.

    Cons

Pay is less than other area companies (many are tech though), but benefits are great.

    Advice to Management

    Reward performance early and often.

I worked at Zumiez full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

its a young relaxed hip environment, great office setup. It is a good place to start your career, they are very good at hiring right after college-with no experience required.

    Cons

The compensation is below market for all departments in the HQ. Poor management in the PL department.- The current managers are only holding management positions because they have been in the company for X amount of years, not because they are well trained qualified managers.

    Advice to Management

For the PL department-in order to maintain and motivate employees they need to feel they have their managers by their side not against them.
