I worked at Zurich North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I had nothing but positive experiences from this company. I started in the trainee program and also interned here. Your experience is largely dependent on your office and supervisors. The supervisors here were superb and they were all knowledgeable. Management really wants you to succeed no matter what career path you choose.

    Cons

The local offices and HQ were often not on the same page.

    Advice to Management

Don't be scared to throw more work at the trainees/interns.

    Pros

The company pays a fair salary

    Cons

Too many managers means micromanaging employees, too much internal process, employees have little independent autonomy.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the way and let claims people do their jobs.

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Ability to work from home up to 3 days a week. Able to wear jeans to office any day of the week. Early release every Friday during Summertime. Better than average salary. Bonus potential.

    Cons

Too many people in upper management that don't care and/or have a clue about how the workers under them feel about the constant flow of new training/guidelines they put in place. Can't do job effectively due to all the "red tape" put in place. Longer you work at company the less your yearly salary increase is going to be. Never seen so many VP's at one company but yet valuable employees get laid off when it's time...

    Advice to Management

Start listening to employees that are not in management. Stop making people feel pressured to act like a program that Zurich implements is great when it's not and employees hate it.

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

There are good benefits. Summer hours

      Cons

Political. Overwhelming work load. Expect to work long hours with no recognition. Starting to outsource claim functions to India and Philippines. Large reduction in work force in 2016 and more layoffs to come in 2017. Company is trying to keep outsourcing under the radar. Customers are not aware of that many functions are no longer done by US employees. Beware your job could be outsourced very soon.

      Advice to Management

Recognize and reward the people who are working long and hard.
