I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I've worked here for 21 years. I work with a great group of people. There are always pros and cons at any job. Zurich has always been good to me.

    Cons

At this time, I do not have anything negative to say about Zurich. As I mentioned previously, there are always good and bad things at any company. Zurich does not stand out as being bad to me.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep employees informed and appreciated.

I worked at Zurich North America full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Benefits, At onetime the Atlanta office had the top management staff to learn and grow with. The existing management staff do not enjoy working together and have allowed cultural differences replace ambition, job enrichment and recognition

      Cons

Training is non existent, there is no Learning and Development Group. employees are are pretty much reduced to here is your seat, there is the restroom an if you have any questions ask a colleague on day one.

      Advice to Management

When I started with Zurich many years ago, the senior management and front line management excelled in technical expertise and the most important leadership quality “Coaching.” Unfortunately those days are now well in the rear view mirror. There are two team managers that should be terminated. They have created a toxic environment. Neither have worked or been in the office on a Friday, I dare to guess for over two years....

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

The people are friendly for the most part. Nice, new building. Can work from home 2-3 days a week, depending on department. Good 401k and competitive pay. Casual dress. Decent amount of paid time off. Good bonuses if you can get a good performance rating.

      Cons

Too many changes in senior management, including a new CEO. All the new people in senior positions creates a culture of people with something to prove, which means lots of changes being made by people who aren't patient enough to understand the facts and implications of their decisions. There is no patience to let projects / initiatives take effect before senior management grows impatient and expects immediate...

      Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to the front-line leaders and employees who know the work and have good ideas. Stop trying to impress all the people above you and show more genuine care and interest for the teams that work under you. For those few execs that walk around the 'business casual' environment with huge designer logos and designer shoes, etc., please stop. You're not helping people believe in the 'cause' when your...

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than a year

      Pros

There are initiatives going on everywhere in the company... sometimes it is a bit overwhelming, but you know that the company is focused on making things work for the long haul. If you like the idea of contributing to the future of a company, this is a great place to be. If you are looking for a place where nothing changes, then you probably need to look elsewhere.

      Cons

With change comes some degree of instability. There is generally transparency with what management is doing, but sometimes there is no way they can announce things until lots of decisions get made. So, it sometimes feels like things change before projects are ever final. But again, it is an exciting thing if you're into it.

      Advice to Management

Try to coordinate the efforts through groups that are "in the know" so that work that is going to be set aside doesn't get done at all. Keep moving forward and creating a better place to work and do business, but keep in mind the needs of the people for stability and ambitions.

      Approves of CEO

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Competitive salaries and benefits. Excellent 401K match, plus a pension. Ability to buy and sell off days. Flexible work program to set hours and to telecommute more frequently. Large commitment to philanthropy and community. Excellent co-workers, with a few dynamic leaders.

      Cons

Constant change of priorities. IT outsourcing is the standard practice, to companies that can't do the work. Consistently understaffed to deliver on projects that have major business impact. Some managers are truly out of touch with their employees.

      Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing. It doesn't save you money in the long run. Trust me - run the numbers. It doesn't cost $2000 per month to manage a server, more like $20. Get rid of rigid and myopic managers. Work more collaboratively across teams.
