    Cons

Not enough career opportunities available to move up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Help your own staff to grow within before hiring out. Especially if the corporation is paying for the education for said position.

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Knowledgeable and helpful coworkers. You have the opportunity two use PTO before accruing it and are able to additional hours of PTO.

    Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities. Lack of credit and participation in special projects that allow you to network in order to advance. I feel like I'm caught between angry and dissatisfied callers and uninterested adjusters which makes all parties frustrated. Wages are low enough that most of the coworkers I know are either single and childless or are not the primary wage earners in their families.

    Advice to Management

Provide better pay and better opportunities!

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

very flexible company..lots of balance for work/life, great benefits, 401k match plus pension, plenty of PTO, offers bonus, benefits and culture not an issue. very modern company

    Cons

Zurich has a major personnel problem. There used to be great management and claims talent in the Atlanta office but regrettably it is all but gone. They allowed smart, competent and knowledgeable employees to leave for other companies and they replaced them with completely unqualified untalented very low caliber ones. In this claim office there is only a handful of reps that are smart and maybe one good manager but that is all. Zurich is very hard to work for if have chosen claims. There are ever changing requirements and the employees are set up for failure by management and Zurich HR. Turnover in claims is higher than industry average and in Atlanta it is pretty much a revolving door. This office has also had 4 AVPs in 4 years; one can only imagine the rest of the turnover problem. The span of control for managers here is 3 times the industry average which would maybe be doable for a competent smart manager that understands the subject matter but for most of the managers here in this office it is completely unrealistic. Managing is done via threats for your job and instilling fear. Some managers are bullies and will harass someone into submission. Zurich is now pushing the “team environment” however reps are unable to figure it out themselves when it's beyond their control.  Most employees are disengaged and are growing cynical, feeling overburdened by the ridiculous workload filled with trivial metrics and BS corporate buzzwords and acronyms. Most sit in silence because they don’t know what else to do or say. Zurich stresses customer service and quality but the unrealistic expectations and constantly understaffed teams coupled with incompetent managers make any goal unattainable.

    Advice to Management

Replace most of the team managers and hire real insurance people that are knowledgeable experienced leaders who can breathe life and positivity back into the office.

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great colleagues who make work more enjoyable

    Cons

    - The company uses McKinsey (and gives them a ton of money) to design programs (such as team based work, ~ZWOW LEAN~, shared desks) that drive people away from the company without having to lay them off
    - "customer focused" strategy that ignores employees and the fact that most of or business is done through brokers with little to no direct interaction with the customer
-Arcane employee grading system that uses a bell curve to rate you against your peers
-Metrics are all individual which pits colleagues against each other in order to score higher on the bell curve, which determines STIP (bonus) and raise
-No sense of meritocracy in the organization

    Advice to Management

Focus on the EMPLOYEES just as much as the customers! You can't have happy customers without happy employees!

    Pros

Really enjoyed working with clients and customers

    Cons

Your experience is completely related to where you work in the company. Some places care about their employees and their growth, while others keep you down.

    Advice to Management

Make the company more uniform. You need better management.
