I have been working at Zurich North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are initiatives going on everywhere in the company... sometimes it is a bit overwhelming, but you know that the company is focused on making things work for the long haul. If you like the idea of contributing to the future of a company, this is a great place to be. If you are looking for a place where nothing changes, then you probably need to look elsewhere.

    Cons

With change comes some degree of instability. There is generally transparency with what management is doing, but sometimes there is no way they can announce things until lots of decisions get made. So, it sometimes feels like things change before projects are ever final. But again, it is an exciting thing if you're into it.

    Advice to Management

Try to coordinate the efforts through groups that are "in the know" so that work that is going to be set aside doesn't get done at all. Keep moving forward and creating a better place to work and do business, but keep in mind the needs of the people for stability and ambitions.

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Switched from another large carrier to Zurich in August 2017 and glad I did. Very proactive in seeking ideas to better overall process. No micro managing on numbers and stats. They look at the big picture. Work life balance and less stress. They appreciate experience

    Cons

Health benefits are good but only offer high deductible plans

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing the technology advances to ease processes for our customers.

I worked at Zurich North America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    work from home
    Casual days
    Summer hours

    Cons

    Everything else..
A company that just sees you as a number
    Very political
Endless speculation of how to proceed without having your position around..creates great hostility..ppl throwing others under the bus...undercutting enviorment..
Everyone including managers are out for themselves
    no true collegial work environment
Inconsistent policies applied sometimes even within same office
Engagement survey after engagement survey yet things stay the same or worsen
Only a certain "type" of person succeeds and gets promoted and its usually not good personality traits..if you're not hypocritical..brown noser, and ambitious but not in the positive way more like ambitious by being the
person who values success in their career above all else and seeks to advance it by any possible means..you will not get promoted...
You are intentionally not rated above a 3 in reviews out of 5 to not get a bigger bonus..
Company has some unrealustic measures of what you have to do to go beyond a 3 which no one really ever reaches except again those described above that get promoted..
you're kind of expected to bypass family and put them first
There is alot of pressure placed to meet so many "numbers" that they don't realize or care that it breeds hostility burnout and nefarious attitudes to not get cut
Very expensive health insurance with only 3very High deductible plans which if you are not single and early 20s you will pretty much pay out of pocket for everything

    Advice to Management

Do the opposite of all the cons
Stop with the surveys..In the time I was there nothing ever changed plus noone trusted anyways. If you want an honest assessment of how employees feel..read all the reviews here.

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*Strong group of employees that were part of the start up.
*There is a lot of industry knowledge

    Cons

*Sale to Benefit Harbor has resulted in increased work load and less concern for the employees and the clients.
*Increased hiding of deficiencies from the clients that can be detrimental.
*Operations leadership that cared about the employees at the company were unexpectedly let go, the remaining management team is more focused on fast pace than quality work.
*People are working more for less pay.
    *Harassing work environment.

    Advice to Management

The CEO is good, though I believe he has been fleeced by his new operations team. Rather than fix the actual problems the company likes to make scapegoats out of team members that it lets go. This company started as a group of disability greats who had a vision of something better - and it has become a generic version of Aetna - the company everyone there came from. Sadly this generic version does not compete with the quality or cost savings of the original.

    Pros

Benefits are great including flexwork, the people that work here are enthusiastic and genuinely good people, nice building in Schaumburg, really like the new CEO Kathleen Savio

    Cons

Managers are not trained to be good managers or given time and resources to focus on being good managers. Some senior management decisions seem short-sighted.

    Advice to Management

Focus on developing your middle managers and high potential individual contributors so that they can be successful managers. People are the most important part of your organization.
