I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Zurich has many opportunities for their employees to further their career. As individuals we drive our career path. Management partners with their employees on career development, both lateral and promotional. Zurich is amazing when it comes to work / life balance. Zurich's compensation and benefit options are amazingly competitive, In fact, I'd say better than other companies. Zurich embraces the ideas of their...

    Cons

The only con I can think of is having to interact with people who are fortunate enough to have an opportunity with such a great company, and don't appreciate it. These individuals are typically the ones who expect the world, yet contribute minimally, consistently complain on the most minimal of things, and then question why their career is going no where. There are several reviews on Glassdoor that speak about poor...

    Advice to Management

Continue to believe in Zurich's mission. Continue to invest in your employees. Drive the positives, and put a halt to the negativity displayed by those who do not value the benefits of working for such a great company.

I worked at Zurich North America full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Benefits, At onetime the Atlanta office had the top management staff to learn and grow with. The existing management staff do not enjoy working together and have allowed cultural differences replace ambition, job enrichment and recognition

    Cons

Training is non existent, there is no Learning and Development Group. employees are are pretty much reduced to here is your seat, there is the restroom an if you have any questions ask a colleague on day one.

    Advice to Management

When I started with Zurich many years ago, the senior management and front line management excelled in technical expertise and the most important leadership quality “Coaching.” Unfortunately those days are now well in the rear view mirror. There are two team managers that should be terminated. They have created a toxic environment. Neither have worked or been in the office on a Friday, I dare to guess for over two years....

Talented and hard working Risk Engineers

    Cons

No training or support for Risk Engineers by managers who micromanage by metrics, risk engineer performance constantly criticized and scrutinized, excessive workloads and admin requirements detract from customer service, admin first, customers second, treated like production commodities not professional consultants, leaders are disengaged, managers only interested in metrics. The benefits are standard but need to be better and people are knowledgeable.

Group CEO and CFO are mainly driven by their personal gains with giving regards to consequences. They want to maximize their bonuses, and bully employees. Unfair compensation and overworked. A place there is no opportunity for career growth. Worst place to work for.

I worked at Zurich North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I had nothing but positive experiences from this company. I started in the trainee program and also interned here. Your experience is largely dependent on your office and supervisors. The supervisors here were superb and they were all knowledgeable. Management really wants you to succeed no matter what career path you choose.

    Cons

The local offices and HQ were often not on the same page.

    Advice to Management

Don't be scared to throw more work at the trainees/interns.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Zurich North America full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The people are friendly for the most part. Nice, new building. Can work from home 2-3 days a week, depending on department. Good 401k and competitive pay. Casual dress. Decent amount of paid time off. Good bonuses if you can get a good performance rating.

    Cons

Too many changes in senior management, including a new CEO. All the new people in senior positions creates a culture of people with something to prove, which means lots of changes being made by people who aren't patient enough to understand the facts and implications of their decisions. There is no patience to let projects / initiatives take effect before senior management grows impatient and expects immediate...

    Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to the front-line leaders and employees who know the work and have good ideas. Stop trying to impress all the people above you and show more genuine care and interest for the teams that work under you.
