I worked at Zynga full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The perks!

    - Free breakfast, lunch and dinner
    - Dogs allowed
    - Game room, movie theater, stocked bar, quarterly parties

    Cons

Management needs a facelift. They throw people into C level management because of their list of companies they've worked at not because of their capabilities.

I have been working at Zynga (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, cool office environment, in house Gym, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Cons

Management is in the midst of course correction...poor communication from the top is not inspiring confidence. Office politics is affecting and preventing work from getting done right.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are your greatest asset.

I worked at Zynga as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Tons of opportunity for advancement. Amazing perks and a great work balance for the most part. Fun product with great coworkers.

    Cons

Lack of clear direction from upper management. There seems to be company wide reorgs every other month which greatly affect culture and company direction

I worked at Zynga full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of great perks like free lunch, dinners, gym membership and snacks. Lots of talented people.

    Cons

Game company that puts very little emphasis on fun and long term good of the game. Too many under qualified & experienced middle managers who does not know how to manage.

    Advice to Management

Being in a company for long time does not automatically make them a good manager.

I worked at Zynga full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Room for growth (at least when I was there)
    -Free food and snacks
    -Potential to make a position
-Lots to learn in a face paced environment

    Cons

-More time spent on restructuring than making games
    -Product Managers rule the roost
-Lots of emphasis put on making fun games, but it doesn't happen
-Direction comes from up top, but is rarely followed or enforced
-Depending on org, there may be no direction

    Advice to Management

Be open with communication and actually give direction. No org should go months with no idea of OKRs, or hear randomly from someone else how bad they are doing. Not only should direction should be given, it needs follow up to make sure people are doing work that is in accordance with that direction.

On top of that, Managers need to manage. Too much freedom is a bad thing. If you don't assign work to someone then they have no idea what to do, which does not allow them to grow as an employee.

    Pros

Learn a lot fast. Fast dev cycles for product launches.

    Cons

Poor management. Managers receive no manager training. No career guidance. Layoffs are brutal and poorly managed. Company is lost and the moves it's making won't save it.

    Advice to Management

Invest in training your managers if you care at all about getting and keeping the best employees. And you need the best employees to right the ship.

I have been working at Zynga full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employee benefits (free breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks & drinks; onsite gym; health insurance; ...) AND unlimited PTO (that's my favorite one!)

Don't usually have to work long hours

The dogs are fun (given you like them, of course)

    Cons

The company is fairly disorganized at all levels. There's no way to plan your work because unexpected hi-priority tasks arrive all the time. Often nobody actually knows what the exact request is and how to do it.

It sometimes seems hard to get your manager to actually listen to you, and even if (s)he does, it will likely have no practical effect in the end.

It's very clear that they're trying to save money as much as they can. IT once told me they don't have headphones because they're too expensive. On another day, I got a Macbook Air charger for my Macbook Pro because - guess what - they're out of Pro chargers and new ones are too expensive. They just stopped providing free onsite massages and haircuts (the services are still available, but you need to pay). They cancelled a planned game day as well as a planned Christmas party. We got an invite to come to the church on Sunday instead...
