I have been working at alva full-time

    Pros

Great people, fantastic CEO, trusted senior leadership, clear mission/vision, valuable product, clients respect them, it is fun/young but also highly professional.

    Cons

Still relatively unknown in the market, somewhat segmented globally.

    Advice to Management

Trust in the process and stick to the strategy.

I worked at alva full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Worked directly with the CEO - Had valuable coaching from the CEO - They give you time to settle in and learn the product and vision very thoroughly before selling - Very much an enterprise and consultative sell - Work life balance - Great base salary - Big deal sizes - A lot of in-person meetings with Fortune 500 executives - Pure start up here in the U.S. so it gives you the freedom to reach out to some...

    Cons

    - Sales strategies change pretty quickly and can be changed before coming to fruition - Not a well-known name here in the U.S. and can be a challenge when opening up doors (I'm told they are working on that with investing in the brand) - A very small team in the NY office - No management opportunity to grow into

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to separate themselves from the sales team and hire someone who manages the sales team globally. Having the C-suite manage sales trickles down and causes a highly stressful environment that makes your job as a Business Director feel insecure. Keep investing in your people as you always have and always giving them every opportunity to have access to your knowledge. That was the best part of working...

I worked at alva full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are more than just an employee. The people you are surrounded by care about you as an individual. The people you report to, while very focused on your success as alva, want to see you succeed in life, and that is far more than you can say for 99% of the opportunities out there in the world. I have seen plenty of negative reviews about culture, and at least from my standpoint at the NYC office, they are unjust....

    Cons

This is more role specific than company specific. Sales is sales, and being a challenger company, with a challenger proposition, in a new market is not for the faint of heart. If you are considering a role in sales, know that you are at the beginning. Everything you do will be self generated. If you need to rely on Lead Gen/Business origination or marketing leads to open doors for you, this is not for you. You need...

Your feedback is appreciated. We value our supportive team culture and know that employees value the challenging and interesting work they do here. Because it’s challenging work, it doesn’t suit everyone and people move on to find work more suited to their needs.

I worked at alva full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great business idea. Improve excel and power point skills.

    Cons

Lack of manuals/methodology for doing the job. Focus on the short term.

    Advice to Management

The training should be more related to the work that your are going to develop. Your personal goals should be achievable with your personal work or at least related to.

I worked at alva full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Interesting clients and the office is nice, apart from that not much else

    Cons

Manipulative management, high staff turnover, long working hours, below-average pay

    Advice to Management

Fix the issues with your company and stop obviously leaving your own positive reviews on Glassdoor. All the 5* reviews have the same wording - 'You get out what you put in!' and at alva you certainly do not.

    Pros

Great management and corporate culture, they give you freedom to work in your own way without losing quality in the work. Was able to work on very interesting projects and felt I was taken seriously as an intern. Would definitely recommend!

    Cons

Maybe others have had different experiences but I really enjoyed my time here. Nothing to complain about.

I worked at alva full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I worked at alva for around 3 years. It was a great working environment, with professional and hardworking colleagues & management. The work was interesting, relevant & dynamic, in an exciting, big data driven area of industry.

    Cons

Not really a con - but - alva is a tech-driven, dynamic business, and as such, can be challenging work, so self-organisation, technical & analytical skills are a must.

I worked at alva full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    • Good experience using Excel and Powerpoint • Can be in direct contact with high-level executives in client companies (depending on which clients you have) • Diverse and friendly group of analysts who have lunch together most days (which unfortunately consist of airing frustrations about the company) • Decent first job as you get in depth commercial awareness on a variety of sectors

    Cons

    • This is a very frustrating company to work for. Many cons which mostly originate from a lack of trust/respect between the management and employees. This creates an unhealthy culture where management do not adequately invest in or appreciate the staff, the staff are unwilling to go above and beyond, and the management then uses this as a reason to continue not investing in staff. The management like to say anyone willing...

    Advice to Management

The team is very hardworking and intelligent. They will not shirk their responsibilities and let the company burn to the ground if left alone. Devolving responsibilities and relaxing the tight grip and incredible scrutiny will create a more trusting and respectful culture which will help improve staff morale and increase collaboration within the company.

    I worked at alva full-time

    Pros

The services appear to be excellent on the surface, but the lack of resources and workload, and project delivery team morale means that deliverables inevitably suffer. Profit as the sole driver means too much cost cutting and expectations of staff that are impossible to achieve.

    Cons

Very poor management, senior team appear to have no experience or knowledge of good practice. Worst environment I have ever worked in with an extremely high staff turnover and lack of team spirit. Minimal perks and holiday.

    Advice to Management

Some reviews appear to have been written by management which is a pointless exercise. As most other reviews suggest, show some respect to your staff and do something about staff turnover
