I worked at athenahealth full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very well organized, fun & fast-past environment, goal-driven and lots of opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Lots of tedious tasks, cold-calling, performing work that I didn't feel contributed as much value as I could be contributing (opportunity cost).

    Advice to Management

Make sure to spot the ones with good work ethic and common sense. Also, an ability to communicate and deliver a solid sales pitch.

I have been working at athenahealth full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The company's reputation
    Coworkers are very smart
    Dogs

    Cons

The promotion and incentive and feedback timelines were misrepresented at time of hire.
I'm one of the ones left in the cold regarding the ambiguous career pathing.
I do not feel that my time is valued.
I no longer feel comfortable asking for comp days when working 80 hour weeks.
Team culture going from "seat of pants" to "burnout."
The job listings on Glassdoor today for athenahealth state that you'll get a 360 review. That does not actually happen, though I'm not sure anyone is complaining.

    Advice to Management

If it takes a month to get feedback from your team about how you're doing, you have a problem.

    Pros

Dog Day, Great colleagues, great work environment

    Cons

CSC contact center needs some work. Better planning for staff is much needed, as well as realistic time needs for CSC analyst to perform customer service while keeping on top of cases.

    Advice to Management

Work on more consistent communication, and trust your employees more. Also, walk the talk. It is great to talk about the amazing culture, but allow CSC agents to experience it.

    I worked at athenahealth full-time

    Pros

    Free Swag and coffee
Double pay on non major holidays
    Monthly happy hours

    Cons

This place is ridiculous unless you're fresh out of college. The atmosphere is very immature and very big brother ish. You are told where to be and when and what to do and how. They call it teaching and learning but really is just a millennial way of saying micromanaging. Unless you are a drone stay away. Also you will have to participate in learning new skill sets without the corresponding bump in pay. It is just entirely insane. Look elsewhere.
