I worked at bebe stores full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Bebe is a well respected brand so the experience with such a company can get you far.The unique clientele training is very uniqe and teaches you a lot about retail management all together. Also the Pay , commission bonuses. motivated district managers , 50% discount ,great communication from corporate makes it easier, also an equal opportunity for growth with the company a lot of in house promotions!

    Cons

At bebe the sales associates although paid hourly also have an incentive commission pay non motivated stylist or stylist who don't play fair wit sales or split commission due to being under qualified for the position. The full time leaders often get a different schedule every week. A more set in stone schedule has to be requested and only approved if its in rotation of whos turn it is to have a certain day or time.Unrealistic payroll hours for lower volume stores often makes it difficult to maintain coverage and schedule especially when shipment arrives!

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at bebe stores full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, great employee discount, very good management training, competitive pay for management

    Cons

Inconsistency in upper management expectations, a lot of upper management is spread thin with recent cuts in upper management so not a lot of support, brand is having problems identifying themselves in the fashion marketplace as sales are down and stores are randomly closing. Not a lot of job security

    Advice to Management

Be very self sufficient and always have an exit strategy. They offered no severance to management that lost their positions.

I worked at bebe stores full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The dress code is very lenient, you get to show your personal style and showcase the beautiful garments. Great discount. Awesome atmosphere. Decent benefits. Preview parties were fun. Met a lot of wonderful people throughout the company

    Cons

Lots of internal and external theft issues to deal with. Company does not prosecute and most of the thieves knew that so they'd come back quite often to steal, then when you have inventory the upper management will question you and write you up for high shrink. Little to no recognition for job well done unless your store was one of the top producers or if you're a top seller in the company. Upper management doesn't have your back when you need them to

    Advice to Management

Recognize your employees for big and small accomplishments. Show your employees that you care by being open to listening and hearing them out and having your employees back in certain situations so managers don't end up looking like an idiot in the end. The customer is not always right

I worked at bebe stores part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great discount, always great about maintaining the Bebe brand by store visuals and maintenance.

    Cons

The store in particular I worked out at for years never received an update, even though another location did in the same city [but then they closed down]. Management was always a bit inconsistent, and over the years the appearance requirements went downhill. I am all for dressing down, but for the Bebe brand, the associates and management really needed to at least try to look the part. Pay was okay... stress for commission, but in a smaller store with little to no inventory and sizing brought in, it was tough.

    Advice to Management

Really try to encourage building relationships instead of always manning the phones to update the client book and refer back to customers that the associates did not connect with. The best sales were from great connections with customers that clicked well with associates... that is why they kept coming back.

I have been working at bebe stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Absolutely fabulous discount. Great building block for luxury sales. Good to learn basics of clientele.

    Cons

Little room for growth, unless in a high volume store. Upper management is distracted and plays favorites.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on stores that are performing, and aid in stores that are struggling to survive. Lower volume stores are just as important as high volume locations.

I worked at bebe stores full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great discount. Leaders are passionate. Decent training. Leadership empowers store employees to make the best decisions for their business.

    Cons

District managers are caddy, somewhat unprofessional. Regional managers are less so, but they allow the behavior. Very difficult to move up with stores closing. Constant pressure to recruit top talent, but unwilling to pay accordingly. Buying is hit and miss.

    Advice to Management

If you expect top tier managers and sales people, you need to pay them accordingly...especially in low volume stores.

Making sales goals and bonusing is challenging due to online competition and returns.

    Advice to Management

Work more on properly compensating great talent. Better bonus plan. More hours needed for training and store meetings.
