I have been working at bioMérieux full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The campus is nice, buildings are well maintained. The warehouse is air conditioned.

    Cons

It's just an odd place with no personality. Everyone in the office appears to be busy for 8 hours, although no one appears to enjoy their work. People sit in their cubes and type away, then walk around with a blank stare. There is no sense of pride or ownership in the office. There are hundreds of procedures yet no real process.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing at this time.

    Pros

Good benefits, and 401K except sick days. You do not get sick days (they are included in your vacations)

    Cons

Small group of high position individuals control everything . If you agree with them you are OK if not you are in trouble

    Advice to Management

    Improve and be open minded

I have been working at bioMérieux full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Well known Company in diagnostic sales

    Cons

Compensation has dropped significantly in recent years. Far less then industry average. Product line in this division is very weak, now that several manuf/vendors carry main test.

    Advice to Management

Strive to pay your reps better. Utilize more modern, proven management style, instead of instilling fear as the primary motivator.

I have been working at bioMérieux full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

two different sides of the company, which is true most everywhere. The front of the house, and then the back of the house.
The front of the house consists of a lot of stuffed shirts and a few sexual harassment cases waiting to happen. Lots of scientists and engineers, so you know that the geek factor is about a 7.3
The back of the house is the production staff. Blue collar, hard working, dedicated, very well paid operators and Maintenance people.
Everyone of the workers show pride and ownership of their work.

oh yeah, and cant forget the 15% shift differential, as well as 15% for working the weekend.

    Cons

US and Them Mentality , even though most of the production staff makes 20%-35% more money than the front of the house.

    Advice to Management

    keep making my 401k grow

I have been working at bioMérieux full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I really enjoy my coworkers and manager in my department. There was a large turn over of management a few years ago and it seems to have worked out for the positive. I'm able to communicate with employees at different site with similar jobs. My direct manager really listens and does a great job following through. The departments at my site do an okay job communicating. They have recently been doing more site wide activities: cookouts, potlucks, blood drives, picnics.

    Cons

Sometimes the departments don't communicate well which can cause a lot of tension. Some of the managers don't seem to like each other and it shows in how they deal with issues between departments. I work at a small site, so it's hard to grow in the company. Sometimes you need to wait for someone to leave to get a promotion or more responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

Continue doing the site wide activities, Listen to the department managers.

I worked at bioMérieux full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health Benefits, Coworkers, most managers are competent

    Cons

Incompetent managers and their direct reports made many of my workdays unbearable. Criticism was the norm in my experience.

    Advice to Management

Provide training to managers with little or no experience in management. Do not allow managers to scream at their direct reports without consequence.
