Pros
good perks but depends on your part of the business. Upstream get flexible working with compressed working weeks giving a friday off every other week, the rest of the business doesnt. Working from home is beginning to become more popular and the working environment is very work-life balance oriented.
Cons
limited potential for progression. there has been increased emphasis on making the process transparent, but it still seems to strongly depend on who you know. seen best results from people leaving the company who then have had good retention offers. general advice is leave and come back to get a promotion

Pros
Flexible working environment with encouragement to take a day to 2 days to work from home (depends on team lead). There are opportunity for lateral movement among departments. The people here are generally nice and helpful. There are fun activities and events such as Employee Value Proposition, movie day, family day, CSR, etc.
Cons
Benefits are lower than other Oil & Gas shared services companies. Management doesn't seem to care much about the employees' as long as they can fulfill their projects and performance target. Although they emphasize on team work, but the management themselves are very self-driven

Opportunity to learn, develop and grow. Overseas exposure is good and space to work in a diverse multi cultural environment is great
Cons
Similar to most companies the dedication required to compete with others to succeed takes time and effort. Cyclical industry

Good Place to work. No visible differences between contractor and employee like it is obvious at some other companies. Great work environment and good hourly rates for contractors.
Cons
Some regions like GoM are hard to work with in BP.

Working for BP
Sep 19, 2016 - Customer Service Assistant in Cambridge, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Provided on site training which was very useful in performing my tasks. All the managers were very friendly and easy to get on with and it contributed to a reasonable work environment
Cons
There was significant remuneration differences for people performing exactly the same tasks. Some of the equipment was old and issues which led to physical injury to staff despite managements awareness of the issue.

Amazing Opportunity
Feb 25, 2014 - Reservoir Engineer in Houston, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Interned twice at BP, went full time. Now working elsewhere. Got fired for something I deserved to be fired for. If you get an offer at BP, take it. Period. The work environment is so amazing that it sounds too good to be true to your friends. Big projects, big money, big opportunities. Just incredible. I never met a single jerk at BP. People were willing to put down their work and help you so often. Great gym, great campus, just awesome.
Cons
The only con is that the HR department drags their legs on everything. They make promises they won't keep, but that's honestly pretty common at Fortune 500s. DO NOT LET THESE CLOWNS KEEP YOU AWAY FROM THIS AMAZING COMPANY!

Pros
Medical benefits are excellent with free fitness facilities and trainers on campus. Generally flexible working environment enabling reasonable balance between personal and professional lives, particularly for women with children.
Cons
HR has created a hostile work environment by acting as BP's 'progressive police'. A once wonderful work environment now boasts the likes of speech/behavior codes, mandatory 'diversity' training (think Google), and policies requiring employees to call out any and all 'perceived' offenses by colleagues and managers. Numerous employees are routinely 'written up' by HR under the broad offense of 'disrespectful behavior'. I was once proud to work for BP and remain saddened by it deterioration into a 'witch hunt' environment.

Pros
Great work environment and conditions
Cons
Environmental concerns and there could be more vegan options

Pros
Working in a financial part of the business is a positive and constructive work environment. The company supports workplace diversity and makes an open effort to be inclusive. There are ample opportunities to build your network across a truly global business.
Cons
As with any energy company turnover can be an issue during times of sustained low energy prices. Frequent reorganisations can be disruptive to productivity and career advancement.
